iPad or other Android tablet?

DD is non verbal and potential ASD but no dx yet. She is 4.4.
We were thinking about getting her an iPad type gadget to access interactive apps to help with speech, coordination etc. She has been managing quite nicely to use YouTube on my phone but this is not a long term solution.
I wondered if anyone had either type which they use for helping dc and which would you recommend? Obv we would prefer a cheaper option but if the iPad is streets ahead then we would luckily (thanks DLA!) be able to afford it.
Just wondered how people found both types?

Can only comment on the iPad but my ds1 loves it.
He uses it for games and things like practising his times tables, handwriting, spelling and phonics.
There is a great app called hairy letters I think you dd might enjoy

DGS loves his iPad. Your DD will probably be using iPad in school or nursery. Family Fund will pay for it if you are on a low income. I'm android for myself but iPad all the way for DC.
