Three cheers for the LEA!! [hmm] I wonder what put a rocket up their arse?

WTF!

As you may know I phoned the LEA on Friday after their 2nd refusal to assess for clarification as I thought we had provided clear cut evidence of inadequate progress. I had another conversation with them on Tuesday and asked them what evidence the school had provided of assessment. She was surprised the school had not copied me in and quite happily told me. The LEA had given priority to the schools assessment showing progress - ratio gain of 1.5. I pointed out that this was not consistent with the 'objective' ratio gain of 0.3 in standardised tests and that this is the same rate of progress as over the last 4 years.

I also 'happened to mention' that according to 'playground gossip' the head/senco who had provided the data was being investigated for maladministration in KS2 SATs exams by the neighbouring LEA/QTSA and the BOG and that DS was point blank refusing to attend his alloted secondary school.

Yesterday, I phoned the LEA and was told that DS's case was going back to the panel for reconsideration on Monday next week! The LEA are going to visit and observe DS in the next couple of weeks and draw up a plan with him to ease the transition to secondary.

First round to us I think (and hope). Now for round 2.

Couldn't have got this far without the help and support of those on this board and the primary education board. Thanks

Good luck to those with Tribunals this week.
