DS2 is 15, has autism and moderate learning difficulties..in special school.
He does some integration with the MLD unit in the mainstream school and is enjoying it, and coping really well.

Today the mainstream tutor contacted me to ask if I would be happy for them to put him in for RE ..for GCSE!!!!!!

He didn't speak til he was 5, he can't tie his shoes, he still believes in father christmas.. he is about 7 year old in most aspects of his life.. but she said he listens and is really good at RE and they want him to the exam (with a scribe)

We have no expectations of him having any academic qualifications and are just happy that he is happy.. but how cool is that? He is really proud because he knows his brother and sisters did GCSEs and now he feels he is like them :D

That's wonderful. I love hearing good reports like this. Gives me faith that there are good people working in 'the system' who really care and do their best for kids like your son. Well done to all of you Grin.

FantasticGrin, what a brilliant achievement, well done to everyone who has worked with him to make it possible.

Fantastic news Grin and a huge boost for ds's self esteem.

One of my biggest laughs was reading ds's RE books as he had no real comprehension of what was being taught and questions requiring compassion and a Christian viewpoint read more like an episode of Jeremy Kyle.

Don't have a little brag - have a BLOOMING GREAT MASSIVE ONE! Grin

That is fantastic, well done to your ds.

You have every right to be really proud. Smile

... and Thanks for posting, as your good news really cheered me up after a worrying morning with my own ds.

Oh, that's lovely. Big Grin I hope the lessons don't involve too much about Christmas, wouldn't like them to give the game away about you know who...
