don't know if I'm being naive but I thought there was a certain amount of not understanding social intercourse that helped dx autistic spectrum disorders

but yes I think you should wait and see what the specialist says

you know she's trying to be helpful and ease your mind don't you?

nutcracker · 23/02/2006 18:57

Do you mean Dd2 ??

misdee · 23/02/2006 18:59

no, she is just being a moo. the way she said it was to undermine me. she says dd2 is just a badly behaved child. nevert mind the fact she lciks everyone and anything. bartks, spits, no sense of danger, etc etc. dd2 is very selective who she plays with, mainly her cousins who she has been around since a baby. and most of the games are initiated by the other kids. not by dd2. she doesnt play with anyone at pre-school.

moo is DD's nickname .. will not hear it as a slur

nutcracker · 23/02/2006 19:00

LOL thats ok, thought i was going a bit nuts then

Ignore MIL by the way, thats what they are there for, to be ignored

misdee · 23/02/2006 19:01

Ds1 likes to join in with his group of friends at school. He doesn't always get the rules or social conventions but certainly does his very best to play with the others. The Paed has absolutely no doubts whatsoever about ds1's dx of ASD.

The spectrum is so huge that I really don't think you can generalise too much about what a child with AS should or shouldn't be able to do.

Twiglett · 23/02/2006 19:02

moo-bag ok

spursmum · 23/02/2006 19:07

Ds likes to play with other kids but still got an ASD dx so tell her to shut it.

misdee · 23/02/2006 19:08

Sam will just about play with other kids, though admitedly they have to behave his way or it all goes tits up.

Sam's latest (sigh) assessment is next week, last time I clammed up and forgot everything- anyone know of a list of things they'll want to assess on I can get off internet? (last time they had a test they did but I had to remember exampes of everything, 'yes he does that' not enough).

sparklymieow · 23/02/2006 21:31

my Lolly is NOT a badly behaved child (well, not for auntie mieow!! ) She is a good girl with strange quirks and very hard work... so tell MIL to stick it

misdee · 23/02/2006 23:07

she is hard work, but she is lovely.
