DD actually drew a picture independently today! Up until now I have really only seen her scribble with colours. She has clearly tried to draw a pig - it is certainly no Picasso but am totally overjoyed that:
she did something constructive on her own
she did something age appropriate and non stimmy
I think I have massively missed out on the whole 'here's a picture I drew today mummy' scene and though it sounds a bit pathetic I am dead pleased to have her little picture to remind me how far she has come. I am rabbiting on about this here as if I was to share this with my mum or my sister they wouldn't get it at all because my nieces draw pics, make puppets, perform dances etc all the time.

That's great news - pride of place on the wall for the better than anything picasso could do pig Smile

Smile (from someone who doesn't post often here but who has a picture of Mummy complete with boobies drawn by DS1 on the kitchen wall).

That's brilliant news. My DS2's physical development is way behind everything else so there was a time when he was 2.9 and walking while pushing one of those push along baby toys. He was shouting "Look mummy I is walking" and I thought there's something I get to see that most parents of NT children don't.

Brilliant! :)

All of us at home are avid drawers, sketchers and doodlers. Love messy arty fun too (yes my home is a mess lol)

However I made a mistake of trying to SHOW ds how to draw and he lost interest because he couldnt "do it"

Left him alone and he found his own niche as he is symetry mad and now spends hours with a ruler and pen drawing symetrical shapes and patterns bit like spyrographs? I remember the first time I went upstairs thinking oh dear whats he up to to find him lying on the floor in his room drawing! Shock Grin

Its a nice feeling well done to your dd may you too have a fridge plastered with piggies! :)

Well done little cansu!
It's little things that NT parents would take for granted (and to be fair why wouldn't they).
Today I was overexcited by dd managing pincer grip on her pen. something my db and sil wouldn't even notice probably!
Here's to lots more pigs!

IKWYM. I looked after my neighbours dd the other day she is almost 4 yrs younger than my DS2 & I was amazed at the things she did, not genius or anything just happy to pick up a pencil & paper & draw or write.
She also made me realise just how much we have to help ds2 with as she kept saying, its OK I can do it myself... She must of thought i was nuts

The positive thing about these 'little' milestones is how much we celebrate each one. Parents of NT kids just take them for granted, we notice and cherish each thing. Smile
