I smoke a couple of fags a day in the garden/car when nobody is looking. I'd quite like to quit but it has become such an ingrained reward system and feeling of entitlement because I don't overeat (much), overdrink or take drugs but feel I should have SOMETHING naughty to compensate all the extra shit being an SN mum brings.
What can I replace my 'sneakerettes' with that will feel as naughty? What do other people do?

It's not a genre that's going to disappear, good luck with it.

Sensing a pattern hereGrin. DH says I have Pathological Demand Avoidance with regards to housework and he may be right, I've never 'got it' and now I find it really hard to even contemplate it as something I might do. Hoping to get more work in September (assuming DS2 gets on ok with school) and will spend all my money on a cleaner.
I also escape with fiction, esp regency romance, MN and do knitting/crochet but hadn't stopped to think of that as naughty. Maybe I should just readjust my attitude to find anything unnecessary as naughty.
Style and beautywise I do make an effort, eg mascara everyday, though if you look closely you'll see none of my clothes require ironing. Just got my hair cut very very short which apparently looks stunning but requires minimum attention from me, hurrah. Nothing like a new look to distract attention from everything else.
So lucky that my lot are good sleepers once they're off so DH and I do get out together every month or two.

The housework thing is a direct result of all the insults flung my way & snooping into my life that went on last year. For the same reason when I can this single Mum will aquire a "gentleman friend" as all the cariing carrots were soooooo disapointed at my lack of one.

It's very immature, but honestly worrying about the skirting boards just seems so flipping trivial nowadays.

Yup PAD traits with regards to housework almost across the board it seems - I feel better about mine now Grin. You are all welcome round for a cuppa.

Triggles · 08/06/2012 10:04

skirting boards? I think we have those LOL... are we supposed to clean them? Confused

insanityscratching · 08/06/2012 10:07

Do you think running the dyson across them when the dust is really noticeable counts?

Oh yeah vices, I could do with a few moreSmile

Mine are chocolate, like loads of itGrin

MN ing, i spend far too much time on here.

Attitude, I have been saying "whatever" for more years than i care to think about. It has got me in trouble quite a few times. I walked out of my job once!! Bit daft really. Lol Now it stands me in good stead when dealing with idiots wrt Dd3.

Hoodies, i have about 15 but nothing smart to wear.

And yay to PDA for housework Grin

Great thread to start the daySmile

mycarscallednev · 08/06/2012 10:19

sorry - my default OCD is clean, clean and then again - its a control thing and drives me mad - I'll even clean for someone else - any offers?!!
......oh and wine
..and coffee,
and getting pissed off with the arses who post on AIBU as they should have a bowl full of our problems then they'd have something moan about,
and having a bloody good rant at people who faff about when they drive - that's a good way of letting off steam [not that I'm a great driver - but you can moan away and no-one knows!]
.......... and then theres the wine - did I mention the wine at all?

ouryve · 08/06/2012 11:17
Wine ocasionally WineWineWine And the odd bottle of cider.

I find dark chocolate very therapeutic, but it always finds a way to fight back.

Ineedalife · 08/06/2012 12:28

I agree with mycar on aibu the other day they were talking about mixing up the lego!! fgs

WetAugust · 08/06/2012 12:29

The only vice that you lot don't have is staying up too late.

After 10pm it's only ever a handful on here most nights Sad

Otherwise, you are actually a crowd that I'd risk a weekend away with (at least I wouldn't have to slope off for a fag on my own) Grin

insanityscratching · 08/06/2012 12:34

Wet I'm rarely in bed before midnight and up at 5am but tend to read once dd is in bed at 10pm.

nickminiink · 08/06/2012 12:43

Riding my motorbike
Driving my Mini Cooper S
Tattoos I have a few must like the pain as it takes away the pain of dealing with the LEA and this bloody tribunal which is taking forever
GYM to destress me
XBOX with my son as this seems to chill us both out
Socialising with my mates when I can as it gives me a sense of being me and not just a Dad battling every day with the LEA fighting for his son.

Happy Days.................

Ineedalife · 08/06/2012 12:59

Grin@wet, you are right about going to bed early but if i stay up too late i turn into a pumpkinGrin.

I would do a.weekend away with you all too, it would be hilariousGrin.

We would all be there with our attitude and just try me faces!!

ouryve · 08/06/2012 13:43

I'm often up until midnight or later - a bit of a nightowl. Glad DH is the early bird. I like to lie in until at least 7am :o

mycarscallednev · 08/06/2012 14:30

....met up with some MN's a few months ago at GOSH, smuggled in some wine - had a moan - and a laugh - was worth the shitty appointment just for that!

SilkStalkings · 08/06/2012 18:52

Sorry Nickminiink forgot there might be non-mums on here too in my OP.

I'll throw open an invitation then, we are camping here from 11Aug. Anyone fancy it so we won't be the only ones with screaming meltdowns?

Oh wow silk that looks lovely. Sadly though I have already said I will be in Pembrokeshire that week visiting rellies.

Nice area, I love it around there.

nickminiink · 08/06/2012 19:43

That's ok think there are a few dads on here fighting the system, glad Mumsnet hasn't booted us off LOL

Shellywelly1973 · 08/06/2012 20:14

Gotta admit to being a sneaky smoker...no one but close family&1 old friend know i smoke.

Too much time on MN.

Weirdly, house work...never had this problem but since Ds7 started school last feb, i just cant stop!! Im blaming that bloody Fly Lady... I know its a control thing.

Imagine 5Dc 1with SN,half term & im obsessing about cleaning the bathroom, tidying bedrooms& about the hall carpet?!? I felt happier when i couldnt b arsed! lol.

Must find a new vice when i get 5mins...

insanityscratching · 08/06/2012 20:23

I wonder if I ought to look at this fly lady thing. I now have time but lack motivation. I blame my mother though she was obsessed and I was a bit too determined not to be Grin
