OMG Clarks actually sell foot gauge - shoe fitting misery over!

I am ridiculously excited to discover that Clarks have started selling a foot measuring gauge. I always hate buying shoes for them as have to either guess size or suffer the hell of taking them to said shop.

Lol!

Shoe shopping is okay here in that it gets done. Ds will crash into everyone trying out each pair of tried on shoes though. Somersaults, climbing on the furniture and forward rolls galore, but he DOES wear the shoes.

Thank you !!!! Just order one, I was only thinking last week that it was a shame you couldn't get a measue to use at home.

You've just made my day!!!

appropriatelyemployed · 07/06/2012 22:27

That is brilliant news. Must get one!

saladsandwich · 07/06/2012 22:51

if ds tries a pair of shoes on he refuses to take them off even if they dont fit, not sure if anyones had this but ds measures a 9 on the machine and a 7.5 on the foot gauge? i'd love to measure his feet myself!!!

bochead · 07/06/2012 22:53

DS's shoe style - "Northwest Territory Boys double velcro strap" school shoes are no longer available so I'm dreading the hunt for his next pair. Basically I've just been buying the next size up at appropriate intervals for years now Blush

Just as he spends all his time out of school in primarni joggers he likes what he knows & knows what he likes when it comes to shoes.

This gadget is great! Deffo beats my paper template to take to shoe shop method.

I'm dreading our next shoe shopping trip - suspect it'll rival the barbers when he is forced to try some new styles, (think I'll avail myself of a whiskey after Wink).

I have also done this bochead and am dreading it when I next have to change the style of trainer as the others have been discontinued. Last time I had to unstitch the label that had been sewn into the shoes as ds didn't like them. At least I will now have the right size but getting him to wear them is another matter! I told dp about the shoe gauge and he looked at me gone out - you can tell who suffers shoe buying misery in our house!

But does anybody know do you still have to bring your child to Clarks to try the shoes on before they will let you buy them? I might be wrong but I thought this was Clarks policy?

mariamariam · 09/06/2012 00:36

No, that's only if you want the guaranteed refund, aka we bet they won't grow out of them before x days.

cansu · 09/06/2012 08:15

I have always told them the circumstances and they are fine with trying them at home.

Our local shoe shop (Russell and Bromley) used to run a SN evening each August. Much better for the parents, still a bit of a struggle for the DC, but at least no cats bum mouths.

DS2 used to break into the store room at Clarks while I was getting DS3 measured, and run amok among the boxes! Grin

TheHumancatapult · 10/06/2012 10:47

Just be aware differnf shops can mean differnt sizes

ouryve · 12/06/2012 13:46

Have jsut availed myself of one

Would say it saved half an hour of stress every month or so, but just had half an hour of stress because the damned checkout wouldn't work in Firefox [scowly glare]

ouryve · 12/06/2012 13:52

My boys both have a thing for the store room, too, though DS2 gets more stressed now about the fact that the shoes on display are not in pairs. sacrilege.

Triggles · 12/06/2012 16:22

That is brilliant! Thanks!

Mine has just arrived - isn't it funny how we get so excited over mundane things!!!
