I've finally got DD's report back and i've got a brief summary below (didn't want to bore you all too much), but these are the areas flagged up to us.

Present assessment indicates DD experiences a mild degree of Dyslexia, with weaknesses with single word reading, reading comprehension, spelling, written expression, speed of reading, speed of writing, short term auditory memory and working memory. Also, some weakness with phonological processing

DD is of average Ability

Attainment in Numeracy is average range

Attainments in single word reading and spelling are low average-below average range for age - delayed in relation to general ability

Attainment in reading comprehension is average range

Phonological processing skills range from average - below average

Phonological processing skills, when reading, speed of single word reading and speed of free writing lie in the below average range for age

DD has strengths in verbal ability, non-verbal reasoning ability and spatial cognitive ability. Weakness with short-term auditory memory and working memory.

Will require support and additional time to complete literacy and maths-based work and consideration for extra time during tests and exams

When DD transfers to High School, she may require learning support and benefit from specialised tuition suitable for young people with Dyslexia. From study skills, with focus on maths, literacy, note taking, essay writing, revision and exam preparation, as she gets older. Also may benefit from developing touch typing and word processing skills and from the use of voice recognition and text to speech computer applications, to assist her with reading and writing as she gets older.

What's the report for? The centiles look quite low in enough areas to have a shot at a Statement, if that's what you're going for.

littlelegsmum · 05/06/2012 18:02

It's a full cognitive assessment, we've got this as well as a salt report that suggests age equivalent of 6.5

We are looking at possible aspergers but this on its own suggests dd is struggling.

What makes you think Aspergers? Does you dd have a very high IQ?

littlelegsmum · 05/06/2012 18:56

No, she doesn't have a very high iq. I know it's not a 'must' but she has lots of traits. Are you thinking this in itself would be why she has these traits?

ThoughtBen10WasBadPokemonOMG · 05/06/2012 19:46

How old is she littlelegs? You apparently need average or above IQ for AS. ASD shares many of the same traits.

littlelegsmum · 05/06/2012 20:31

Maybe it's AS/ASD/or something along those lines then? She is awaiting further assessments but seems to fit perfectly into the Asperger category.

On the details her GCA is 101 - 53 percentile - average.

Oops, sorry. DD is 11

I got told DS1 has ASD and he has Aspergers. I am slightly confused to why some are differentiating between Apergers and ASD? just a query, not a criticism.

DS1 has average -ish IQ. still struggles loads in school but only yr 1.

He only got dx with AS in the last couple of weeks and they said it was early. I dread to think how many DCs are out there struggling. Thankfully there are parents like you.

littlelegsmum · 05/06/2012 21:21

To be honest Jerbil it's completely confusing me too Confused and I may not know exactly which 'category' she'll come under but I do know she has something and am very determined to push for her. It's my job and I feel like i'm failing if I don't find out.

Absolutely HotHead :) My dd has never stuck at anything (other than swimming) long enough. She struggles to mix with new people so i'm always encouraging her or telling her how good she is at art/swimming/ICT and her latest non-stop talks are about gymnastics!! She would be superb if she stuck at sports type activities but she gets so anxious about people around her that gives up at the slightest sign of awkwardness :(

Maybe I need to stop stressing about her not being ready for things and just keep reassuring and praising her.

This report tells you nothing about whether or not she has ASD - because they weren't testing for it.

All they are saying is she has dyslexia.

Not sure why they've classed it as mild.

The digit test is a memory test. And very poor memory is a symptom of dyslexia.

littlelegsmum · 06/06/2012 11:21

We knew they wouldn't be testing for ASD but more her ability and Dyslexia - which it has done.

DH and I are looking at getting her tested/screened for possibility of ASD, but are getting conflicting advice about where to go

mycarscallednev · 06/06/2012 11:36

Ask for a full Neurodisabilities report from a respected team - but you will need to referal, together with a good reason for the request. Once completed the tests cannot be repeated wthin a year. We went to GOSH who were very good.

littlelegsmum · 06/06/2012 11:40

DD has been referred and her initial appointment has just been put back a month, so if I will ask about this at the meeting - thank you.
