Do you think it is best that child age 11 doesn't know when ed psyc is observing them in class and lunch? We already have Dx HFA

Unless the child knows him/her, i wouldnt say any thing personally. It might cause anxiety or playing to the audience.

Dd3 recognised the paed once in the classroom and after that she used to think everyone who visited was there to watch her and it used to terrify her.

I would say its best that a child doesnt know they are being observed, it could affect their behaviour.

Bad thought warning.....
But if the observation is to help with a statement would playing to the audience really be a bad thing? ( hides in shame!)

I didn't tell my ds 7 about EP observing him but he did notice her in the corner "writing the classes names down", but I must admit that I did mention to him if anyone comes in to have a chat with him...not to worry just be yourself Wink

If my ds knew someone was watching him, he would be on his 'best' behaviour, rather than being himself.

If the school/EP want your DC to know, then they will tell them.

Thanks to all for your thoughts. I too was thinking if he on a good day ed psyc might say not much to worry about? But i can also see that if he knew it might change his behaviour so I think I will leave it and not tell him. Just hope they get true picture and support him thats all.

best not to tell him, tho I completely understand your thougts.
that's the prob, they go in once for an hour or so then make huge sweeping statements
