Fed up with Pre school but feel like I'm over a barrel

Only half a term to go and ds leaves anyway but I am finding Pre school and their tedious and rigid ways tiresome and I feel like they are often negative about ds and nit pick, they know he has ASD but point out his difficult behaviours in what I feel are unfair ways. The other day they said to him on his way out "you really let yourself down" he's 4 ffs and has a two year speech delay so he probably didn't have clue what she meant anyway but it made me feel so sad. His crime? Refusing to sit at the snack table (it use to be optional but now they insist)
I feel tempted to take him out sometimes but we are going down the statementing route and I think doing do would hinder the process.

Sorry rambling and not making much sense. Just feel Sad

That's awful molachambers. You're right if I'm unhappy with what they tell me god knows what I'd think about what I don't know

I removed my DS from a very poor setting (recommended by our portage teacher). We had two IEP's and one IEP review but it was enough to get my son assessed for a statement. I kind of used it to my advantage in my parental report, using examples of how the setting couldn't meet his needs!
Good luck

I agree with the others, his needs are not being met and the comments about the bee or wasp or whatever the hell it was are totally unreasonable. If it is worth the bother i would take a.copy of the page in his home school book and send it to her.

The member of staff needs some serious training. Your lovely little boy will be better off at home with you for the summer.

Ineedalife · 30/05/2012 19:17

Catsdontcare · 30/05/2012 22:12

Take him out now, before they utterly destroy his self esteem. You can go through state wanting at school, just let the local authority know you are removing him due to their inability to respond to him appropriately.

OMFG Shock

They sound terrible. I wouldn't send him back there. Have a nice long summer break :)

StarlightMaJesty · 31/05/2012 08:22

Take him out.

I know it feels radical but you'll all feel a lot better for it.

I have removed my DS from 3 placements already and he's only 5!!!

TheLightPassenger · 31/05/2012 08:25

So - a language delayed pre-schooler gets the words bee and wasp muddled. And the staff see this as a behavioural issues Hmm. Run for the hills. Reminds me of DS's crap private nursery, whose manager wailed to me "we just don't know if he doesn't understand us or isn't behaving". s

It is done have phoned and left a message for the manager. The girl on the phone was a bit flummoxed I think.
