Help anyone who knowsSmile Do I fill the form in my name or dd's? HV said my name but I have just rang Social Services and they said in dd's name (but I dont trust SS - so I thought I would asking trusty mumsnetters instead!)

Also I have got to give 2 passport photos, if they have got to be of dd - how do I get her to sit in a photo booth? Or could I make her pics smaller with my digital camera?

Please dont laugh at me for being clueless!Smile

I've just done this and got dd's badge - filled in the form in dd's name and sent pictures of her. Just used some ordinary snap shots (not even identical ones) and cut them down to size.
Dd had the mobility assessment done by a physiotherapist at the hospital a week after I sent off the form and a few days later we received the badge - valid until 12/2006!

Thanks 2under2Smile and glad you got your badge so quickly. I have worked out how to print the photos off smaller now - I am sure I am going mad and my brain cells are decreasing at speed!

Just hope they give me one nowSmile

good luck fio - I was so thrilled to get our badge and not at all convinced we'd get one. dd (3 on March 31) can walk but she is still a real toddler with a cute toddler gait and any change in surface trips her up so I have to hold her hand outside or carry her. When she had the assessment of course she didn't trip up once and cheekily ran off with a mischievous grin! Let us know how you get on...

Fill it in in dd's name Fio. I took ds2 to a photo booth and sort of held him on the stool while trying to avoid getting in the way. Luckily most booths will let you try again if you dont like the pic . You can reduce a pic you have though . We got ds2's through with no hassle, no examination. It lasts until he is 5, they said they may examine him then, when it is reviewed..

thanks lou. I have filled it in and I did manage to get the photos smaller in the end - I am so dumb sometimes! Just got to get the GP to do his bit

I just rang the local office for my area. In my case Kingston in Surrey dealt with it. If you do a google search , saying "applying for blue badge" and the area you live in, it should come up with the place to apply.

Thanks lou and fio

Well done!

Hi
thought it might be helpful to mention that Klick (and prob similar chains of shops) can take photos without the booths. They pull the screen down in the shop and can take them even if the child is in a buggy or wheelchair.

apparently you can apply for 'road tax exemption when you have a badge...is that true?

mieow · 07/02/2004 07:47

No, you have to be getting Higher rate mobility to get road tax exemption

Davros · 07/02/2004 10:42

If you get a badge you're probably on higher rate mobility though. I don't have the road tax exemption and haven't tried to get a motability car because the use of the car is quite restricted (if you follow the rules..)

lou33 · 07/02/2004 16:50

You can get a badge from aged two, but higher rate mobility starts from aged 3.

mieow · 07/02/2004 17:19

Davros, if your child get higher rate, you can get the road tax exemption for your normal car. If you phone up they will send you the form and then your get a cert. to take to the PO next time you have to tax your car.
