Anyone using/used any of the 'Nessy' downloads/CD roms for typing/dyslexia/dyspraxia?

Have posted this in Home Ed, but maybe I'll get more luck here?

My son has the above plus co-mobid conditions with gross/fine motor disability with EDS. We are using the Nessy Tables of Doom, which is really helping, and I'm going to buy the typing download.

They have a learning pack for download too and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience of using this and how effective the pack is. [Before I part with £100 to buy it!!]
Thanks xx

Have you tried the BBC Dancemat Typing? It's free.

I've used the typing one for my son, it was good. Works through the stages steadily and has lots of certificates/stars etc for practice. My daughter also wanted to do it with my son :-)
The school I work at also uses it as standard for children with fine motor difficulties.

Can't comment on the learning pack, haven't used that.

Hey, thanks, interesting that its used in schools, I've tried the BBC one but its confusing and not so good - I like that the Nessy one works through the alphabet, whgich makes sence as that's easier to put together with spelling.

Did you find it helped long term with your sons typing longer term?

The fact that its dyslexia friendly is a bonus, that's making life quite a challenge at the moment.

DS is learning to type with NessyFingers. He loves it and is progressing quickly. I can highly recommend it. It is just over £20, but worth it IMHO.

Is the learning pack not a learn to read scheme? Used by quite a few schools?

I have their typing program, which is OK. But besides the fact the letters are taught in alphabetical order, there's nothing different about it to any other learn to type program.

I have their spelling one which I didn't like. no way is it good enough to help a child with severe dyslexia.

And i have their dyslexia quest iPhone app which I quite like.

Indigo - can you recommend anything that has helped which we could try?

I use Englishtype in my school for dyslexics and dyspraxics. It has colour coded fingering and gives great support for spellings as you can start at different levels. It was made by an EP for dyslexic and dyspraxic kids and I much prefer it to Nessy as I think the alphabet confuses as the letters are all over the place. Lots of fun games too.

Are there any other free ones that are recommended or are they just not as good? Englishtype sounded good for spelling as well as typing. We have only used free ones up until now. Are the ones you pay for worth it then?
