Hi seeking some advice.
Flying from Edinburgh to Sicily in few weeks with 5 hr stopover in Gatwick. Need buggy in airport for dd1 (3.4yrs ASD and hypermobility). Want to avoid having to collect and recheck all luggage and go through security again! Will be carrying dd2 (6m) in sling. Will be taking buggy to plane door at Edinburgh for dd1. Any tips/experience with regards being given back buggy at plane door in Gatwick? We're flying with BA. Cannot contemplate being in an airport for 5 hrs minus buggy for dd1!

Dp planning to phone them but neither of us are feeling confident in getting something arranged and that arrangement happening.....

Thanks Thanks

You could buy this, it also comes with a bag link. We used a similar one called Quinny zapp and were able to fold it and store it in the supplied bag just before entering the air craft and take it as hand luggage on an international flight from heathrow last month.

Could you ask for a wheelchair at the airport? We have done this for MIL before and found it to be quite efficient (although not tried at Gatwick). They meet you at the plane entrance.

just tell the check in that you will be taking it to the plane & would like it bought back up to you at the plane when you arrive. Explain it is for a disabled child not just a pushchair.
Make sure you also mention to the cabin manager when you board the plane that you dont want the puschchair offloaded with the luggage but taken to the plane door on arrival. They will make sure they notify the ground crew as soon as they arrive.
Who are you flying with.

Thanks for all your replies.

Dev and Leonie I've had a look at the quinny zapp, and spotted the quinny Yezz and the QuickStart backpack buggy. The QuickStart would be small enough for cabin baggage and would serve our purpose well enough (dd1 is still only 12.5 kg at 3.4 years). Though this'll be our 5th buggy purchase Blush. Although all have been or are currently well used!

slacklucy am bit nervous about trusting staff to ensure return of buggy as have read that not very reliable. We're travelling with BA.

If you mention to the cabin manager when you board & then give her/him a gentle reminder before you come in to land then you should be fine.
I've not flown BA but i'v never had a problem with any flight.
