Why...... Why is it ok for Dd3 to eat a chicken leg but not a piece of carved roast chicken??

They come from the same chicken, out of the same oven FGS. They are even served by the same person.

Why do I still not understand this??

She is 9 by the way and has a dx of ASD

I'd like to know this too but actually as a child I was exactly like this. I always had the legs.

why can DS1 eat pasta shells from Tesco but not the ones from ASDA? too stripy apparently. I guess it's the same answer - ASD!

Ineedalife · 20/05/2012 17:34

OH yes jerbil, she can eat spaghetti out of a tin but not hoops!!

And red apples and grapes but not green ones.

I am resigned to it most of the time but think i must have pmt this weekend because it has nearly driven me bonkers.Grin

it drives me bonkers every day, and every meal time. DS2 eats like a horse without any issues though. DS1 only eats red apples but they have to be very red! he won't eat pointy chips at MacDonalds! carrots but only circles not sticks or cubes! pizz only in the wedge shape not the square one at school, tesco honey roast ham only he knows the exact picture on the packet. but if I wrap it in cling film and not foil for his packed lunch he won't eat it! I have to laugh at times but seriously, it's not funny is it!

Why does DS (8, AS) love strawberries and love sugar but won't even try strawberry jam?

Triggles · 20/05/2012 19:33

DS2 will eat raw carrots in sticks, but not cooked carrots or circle carrots. Will eat egg mayo, but not egg in any other way. Storebought egg mayo, but not homemade (and he can tell even if he hasn't seen it made). And homemade tuna mayo, not storebought. Hmm Green grapes, but not purple/red ones. Strawberries, but not strawberry jam. Blueberry fruit bars, but not blueberries. Cherry tomatoes, but not sliced tomatoes (beefsteak). Chips and roast potatoes, but not mashed or jacket potatoes. Cake but not icing of any kind. Milkshakes, but not ice cream. Toasted/grilled cheese sandwiches but not regular cheese sandwiches.

I always think of that movie Shakespeare in Love when that one fellow said "It's a mystery!" Just makes me Confused.

Ineedalife · 20/05/2012 19:53

Dd3 will eat raw sugar snaps and green beans but not cooked.

And strawberries but not jam or anything with jam in.

She had her dad making her sandwich the other day with ham, cheese and lettuce and it had to be in that order. She was quite clear about it but couldnt tell us whyConfused.
She also managed to convince him to buy neopolitan ice creanm a couple of weeks ago and then refused to eat the strawberry section, or anything touchin it.

She has gone from being a really fussy toddler to a better young child back to being really fussy again.

I know it is a control thing but it doesnt make it any easier.

Ho hum ,at least i know i am not alone on here.Smile

Funny you should say that Triggles. DS1 puts stickers he gets at school on his body underneath clothes and his IEP teacher told him "you're a mystery"

Triggles · 20/05/2012 21:53

Jerbil - It's a common phrase here. Grin

I read off some of the food preferences people have posted to DH. His response? "ah... so it's not just DS2...." Grin
