a friend of mine, miles away, is looking into this.

I said I'd ask on here for him, as he is a bit of a technophobe.

Hope you don't mind?

anyone tried this? or raviv (similar, he thinks?)

think it is to do with dyslexia?

thanks.

Just looked at the website.

I'd be very surprised if it didn't help, at least to some extent, with all that crossing the mid line and stuff.

I spoke to a raviv person and wasn't impressed with them personally.

My top recommendation for dyslexia is Tinsley house.
Also retained reflex therapy can help
Also vision therapy through a behavioural optometrist
Also any of the many listening therapies.

I've written all my dyslexia advice here

In fact I think it looks very good.

I certainly think its worth a try.

My ds has started to do Bal a Vis X fairly recently. The man that invented it came to England last year and ds was invited by his Raviv practitioner to be a guinea pig for the trainers. We started off with just tossing one bean bag up and down and my son really struggled to toss it more than about an inch without dropping it. Now a couple of months later he is bouncing 3 balls and bouncing and catching balls with one hand. Our DS is also at Tinsley House, so don't know what is influencing him more, but his memory, speech and writing are definitely improving.

I think he is just happy that he can now play "lobbing" with his mates, whereas before he was always left out.

The lady our ds does Bal a Vis X with is really nice and works on other things during the session such as memory/visualising things and does a little bit of reading with him. I think there are only a couple of people that offer Bal A Vis X in England. The lady my son visits is near St Albans, so wonder if this is who your friend is looking at?

Smudge - do you have to do the bean bag stuff every day? For how long?

Is it something you can work out how to do from the book or would you need to visit someone?

Smudge, I have pM'd you.x.

Hi IndigoBell thanks for all your posts about TH. You should start charging commission, as you inspired us to go. We only started bal a vis x quite recently, so are not doing all the stuff on the video yet. My ds throws a bean bag 10 times eye height or higher with each hand, squeezing it when he catches it. Then he throws it from hand to hand (with another person) in a rectangle shape (10 times each way) then the same, but passing it behind the back. Finally he bounces and catches a racquet ball in each hand as long as poss without dropping it ( about 20 times in my sons case). He does a lot more tricky stuff with the tutor. It takes about 10 minutes. We do it about five times a week. I haven't seen the book, but you could probably do it that way, but we like going to the tutor, as she does other stuff as well (and boosts my spirits, when everyone else has written off ds).
