Hi
My youngest son 3 is at nursery and his hypermobile ankles are making it difficult for him to join in walks to the woods etc with the other children. The staff asked whether i knew about any funding available for a trolley/buggy so that even when his legs start to ache, he could still be included in all activities. They were really good and said they would never exclude him from anything but they cant carry him back (long way and he's not little!) Think they've been avoiding taking them on his days. Any ideas? x

Tell them to contact the LA area SENCO and local childrens centre.

Could you get a Maclaren Major from your Paed or Development Centre?

Ask his OT for a wheelchair services referral. You should be provided with a MacLaren major through WCS free of charge.

Thanks everyone. x

Choc, if he's only three, why aren't you just leaving his pushchair there? We used to do it all the time. Some WCS will only look at provision of major if they have outgrown the usual pushchairs (ESP if no other support requirements)

We used to do it with school, too. If we knew they were walking around the community or wherever, school would let me know and I would just leave her wheelchair or major that day...

Nursery could just use a radio flyer wagon or whatever. Get the fundraising committee to buy one.
