iPad games for toddler with cerebral palsy

DGS is 3.7 with CP which affects all 4 limbs and he has poor hand control. He can't speak clearly but understands everything. He recognises numbers animals etc and I would like ideas for iPad games he can manage. He can point etc but a bit drunkenly !

We want games that are not too difficult -he can't drop and drag for instance - but can point and touch. Any suggestions?

Have got a few free ones but they are a bit boring and annoying American accents which may confuse dgs. Things to stretch him cognitively iyswim

have a look here and here for some ideas and also look at the free grasshopper apps as you can customise them with your own voice.

Hi, DD has the peppa pig one. I think it was 2,99 but it is still the one she can do the best. There is one where they have to tap the screen to pop balloons to find the character. Each game has a little door in the corner which they use to exit and go to another game. At first she could only do the ballon popping but is now exploring other bits. She is 4 with CP also but we use the ipad to help her visual processing also. Since using it she has started to be able to put 2 piece puzzles together for example. She also likes the interactive toy story book. I think the first one is free.

isw. Thank you I will give that one a go, but DGS does not watch peppa pig (dont know why?) but will have a look anyway. He is a big Wall-E fan so its also an idea i can look into just in case there is something similar.

Hi sneezecake we have just discovered Shape Up. and thought of you. Maybe turn the volume down a bit as DD startles every time she completes a shape! For us it has been a fantastic tool.

Keep doing hand over hand with the vtech smile as well Grin it took dd2 aaaaages to master but was well worth it in the end. No use on toddler iPad apps I'm afraid, but dd2 at 8 is now obsessed with playing carcassone on mine... It seems endless, but they get there!

Hi, will look at shape up and have got several games recommended on here already, will go look at the shape up and carcassone too! DGS has obviously read the ipad manual and perfected the 4 finger swipe hence continually changing pages! Just the CP really but it is very frustrating for us - he finds it amusing!

He thinks the guinea pig which repeats the noise you make in a squeaky voice is hilarious and so do we!

He is going to be measured up for this wizzybug in June so has to master a joystick by the time its built! Also choosing a trike now and amazingly can pedal!

You can turn off the multitasking gestures on the settings menu. Ds2 is nowhere near using iPad but ds1 who is 4 loves it, he is nt but catches the screen without meaning to so we turn them off when he uses it.

Oh, the guinea pig! Dd2 has the cat one, and I think the dog one, on her iPod. They drive me crazy, but the dcs still laugh like drains every time!

The wizzybug looks great. That was the reason we persevered with dd2, tbh. Because of her retained reflexes she can't self propel a manual (her head goes down into her lap, which makes it all a bit dangerous for random passers by) so the physio was intent that she would (eventually) end up with a power chair. Fortunately, these days she doesn't use her chair much, but I can see us getting a powered scooter when she's a teen to keep up with her friends!

He's a bit little for carcassonne. Grin everyone here is addicted, but I can't play it because I keep seeing the tiles flash up in my head. It screws with my brainwaves somehow. Not cool.
