ASD testing

My Ds is undergoing testing for ASD at the moment. He had his ADOS test in Feb and a school observation in March.
They said at the time we would be seen again in around 4 to 5 weeks . I have been on to the people who organise the testing but nothing has happened. I got brief verbal feedback after the ADOS but nothing else.
Am I right to be annoyed ?
Where we are , there has been a big drive to reduce waiting times for ASD testing. Whilst this is good and we were seen within 13 weeks of referral which is the goal, northing much seems to happen after that quickly .

There is another goal after decision time where an action plan has to be put in place within 4 weeks of diagnosis so I expect this will be met also to get more boxes ticked. Nothing seems to happen in the middle. Surely its important to provide feedback quite promptly to ensure reliability of testing as so many children are being tested. I'm writing an email to complain at the moment but an anxious that I'm going OTT and that this is normal?

I would say that you are right to be annoyed. Do you know what the procedure is in your area? Do they do multi-discilpinary assessment as it may be that they do all the assessments and then have a panel that reviews all of the children who have been seen in the months prior. That is how is works here. If you have the secretary's number I'd just give her a call and ask her.

I would be annoyed if I was left in limbo waiting too.

I would phone the people who said you would meet again in 4 or 5 weeks and just plain request an appointment date and if the person on phone cant give it then request to be put through to the one who can or get him/her to call you back. Phone every day if necessary so they dont forget you in a hurry :)

Thanks.

The only contact details I have are those of the ASD co-ordination team. I have hounded them a bit but will do so again. The people who did the testing move about a lot and not sure where they are based. I hadn?t thought of a panel decision with lots of children being discussed. The SALT did advise the ASD coordinator that she was going to liaise with the other profs to arrange a further meeting which hasn?t happened so I don?t think it?s at that stage yet. I suspect there will be further assessment as DS isn?t an obvious case . Thanks for telling me I am right to be annoyed .

Our panel only meets every other month. I'd definitely ask them outright if there is a panel and when DS is due to be discussed. We then had a call from the paed a week later apologising that she hadn't told us the outcome and then saw her two weeks later.

Well I decided to do another email with a more forceful tone and I have been told there is an appt in the post for 24th May.

Amazing how they can come up with one at relatively short notice when you demonstrate knowledge of their targets.

Ben and Coffpot - Thanks for arming me with go gettedness!
