Forumlations for Concerta?

Does anyone know if Concerta comes in any other forumlation rather than the fairly large capsule type tablets? Just wondering if I would be able to get something easier for DD to take (after it took DH an hour to get it into her this morning).

i would phone the pharmacist and ask them, they know what formulation they come in better than a doctor

BiddyPop my ds had concerta about a year ago, my paed said they only come in tablet form, i was same as you and couldnt get ds to take them. Unless they have changed recently i dont think it comes in liquid / dissolving. :(

Thanks. Tha's what I was afraid of. :(

Will be back onto Doc later (in consultations now) and will try pharmacy again later too.

I work in pharmacy and just had a quick look, only tablet form I'm afraid probably due to being a slow release formula.

Thanks Feargalthecat.

We would like ds to trial concerta but his inability to swallow the capsules put paid to that. Have to admit I couldn't get to grips with swallowing pills either until well into adulthood. What worked for me was to gradually build up from swallowing very small bits of food eg pellets of bread to bigger bits. Also helped to chew something soft first then pop hard pill/capsule in mouth when ready to swallow. Read somewhere recently of someone doing something similar with slivers/slices chunks of gummibear sweets. Non-threatening gradual desensitisation...and a good excuse for eating sweets.Grin

I have yet to hear the "how" part, but DH volunteered again this morning and sent me off to the gym (I am supposed to be starting to shift the extra 1.5 stone I put on the past year while he travels and I deal with home, on top of the other 1.5 stone I was carrying that I shouldn't).

I left at 7.15, and by the time I parked at 7.40, DD was not only up, but had taken the tablet!! Woo Hoo!! (And that, despite having still been awake after 11 when I went to bed).

I'm not thinking we are completely through yet, but she is willing to try and that is the biggest plus for us. So I am delighted she managed it today!!

Oops, I meant to say that we had talked about it last night and I mentioned the various ideas on here too. So thanks all!!

Yay well done to your DD what a star. (think she deserves a treat for trying and succeeding to take it, hope it lasts) Smile

There was choc promised last night, which morphed into a pack of crisps. Tonight, I presume DH has something else lined up. I'll have a treat in my bag, just in case, though when I get in. And her regular star chart had already got 2 extra lines (at her request) for chores this week and now has a line for the tablet too as it is so much more tricky than the previous version. I think it will be a big prize this weekend.

DH had to cut in half again this morning (but from the get-go) which we know is not ideal - but we are going to work on getting larger sized tabs into her over the weekend. And in the meantime, getting it into her at all is success to us.

Well done to dd - hope she enjoys her prizes.

We are getting better at this. I got DD a new shower cap (already promised anyway, whenever I found one) and a lavender shower gel on Friday for being so good about it (and to help sleepiness!! That part failed though). She was delighted.

And DH was a bit sneaky yesterday morning - he'd been chopping in half and she was doing fine with it, so yesterday he threw it in whole and only told her afterwards. So she had it whole and was delighted to tell me when she brought me up brekkie in bed (apple juice and croissant with pot of jam on tray, and the business supplkement of the paper). So we had a "great news, I am so proud of you" snuggle together too.
