DS has been offered a place with RDA - what are the odds of him actually leaving the car!

or actually even getting out of the car! I have until Saturday morning to convince him Grin

He has ASD, dyspraxia and SPD. He has severe problems with smells. He was completely revolted by a visit to see the baby lambs at our local farming world.

Is there anyway to help with this sensory problem other than just going and trying to get over it?!

I'm excited by it anyway! Only £7 per lesson :)

Gilets are warm but not restrictive - it's about being comfortable. If he really takes to it you can invest in kit gradually. No need to rush into anything. Tesco do riding gear now that is very reasonably priced.

We have the Fortune Centre in the New Forest near to us that uses riding and horse care as part of general learning of independent living skills. It is residential.

Hope he absolutely loves it.

Well done champion! Grin

Glad he enjoyed it. Hey and a horse might be useful in the back garden to keep the grass down Grin

wey hey ...... way to go DS !!!

re the gear ben10 . the only suggestion I would make for def atm is to ditch the wellies and wear boots ( dont have to be proper riding boots but tbh they are very cheap at tescos ) with a wee bittie of a heel and not as bulky.. makes it easier to get into an out of the stirrup.

Some places wont actually let folk ride with wellies for safety as more likely to stick in the stirrups should the unthinkable happen and ds for some reason makes an involuntary dismount ( rare but not unkown in RDA Wink)

Re the hats. that is the only thing not reccomended to buy on line ...... they really should be fitted properly by someone trained (or really really knowledgable) .... somewhere like a local tack shop or a countrywide store.

as skiing said. gilets warm without restricting arms ... good to have

trackies are fine but jods are a little less slidey on leather saddles... some folk never get them . I ride in jeans but I dont ride in an english saddle ..... but you can get riding jeans without a seam on inside leg if that would rock ds boat Wink

There are just amazing horsey tshirts and kids stuff these days .... great fun outfitting them for summer especially.

sooooo glad he likes horsey smells Grin
