Trikes

Hopefully about to sort out first trike for DD who has CP. Anyone got any comments good/bad about theraplay terrier trikes which is the trike we think we're going for. Also looked at Quest 88 but come down on side of theraplay. Also, thinking of trying to get some assistance with funding the trike as it's £700 and wondered whether anyone has words of wisdom on this as not something we've done before. First thoughts are local groups like roundtables and lions but not sure how to approach it and what kind of response we're likely to get.
thanks for your help!

There were a few on E bay the other week, going for £150 and yes it was around £700 new

Isn't there a charity called Whizz kids. They help with this kind of thing, give them a call

sorry don't know how old your dd is. My ds first has a pickle which was a lovely trike. She now has a quest 88 - colt which we have found really good.
sorry I haven't heard of a terrier trike.
When we fund raised for ours we tried local pubs, lions and round table. I just wrote a letter explaining what we needed and why and also got the sw to do a back up letter. we did get the money just can't remeber who from. Whiz kids is good but they have a waiting list. can be useful to ask around at schools where they are used. we just passed the pickle on.

thanks folks. I too heard whizz kids take ages, I think we'll try the round table/local football club maybe?? and pubs, as I know DD will be asking every day when her new trike is arriving. Hadn't thought of ebay (not a big internet user!) but I guess we could be back to square one with costs once we've got back to the supplier to change all the add on supports to those suitable for our DD. I do know that when dd moves up a trike we will be able to trade the terrier in - so that should help next time.

Just found the letter try Children today charitable trust, the moorings, rowton bridge, christleton, chester, CH1 7AE telephone 01244 335622 they gave us £450 towards dd's colt.

we have a theraplay trike for dd and she loves it, it even comes apart so it is a little easier to transport.not sure what it's called but it is not the smallest one they make, iirc it's the one geared towards children age 5-8 years.
i would reccomend whizz kidz as the therapists were very good and knew what sort of adaptions dd would/n't need and like someone says you can then always trade it in for the next model in a few years time......dd also got to choose the colour just like any other child choosing a bike.

ds2 has a tomcat trike, it cost over £1200 but got funding from a charity called promise dreams
I asked physio if she could send a letter of support with application for funding and she was very helpful.
It took about 6weeks to sort out.
Hope you get the funding
and hope your dd likes her new trike which i am sure she will
