is this common? ds is improving he is delayed by 12months and is 3 and half, im not sure if hes catching up or its a sign he will do or if its just a case of him doing what children are doing 12months younger if that makes sense but beginning of april he started playing with his toys better he will talk in his play (jibberish - sounds like one persons part in a conversation if that makes sense) hes started getting all his toys out one after another like he can't get enough of playing with them where as before it was strictly cars with abit of octonauts in and it was all repetitive.

behaviour as taken a nose dive though :( public tantrums, laying down in the street and not getting up even in the middle of roads, my arms and back are killing. at home he is refusing to leave the house since hes discovered his toys, im pleased he is enjoying playing but even getting dressed is a nightmare, also biting himself and now me, head bangings back, jumping and wrestling me if hes not got my full attention and high pitched screaming, repeating everything and anything, not getting him to sleep till 9, hes up at 6 and wakes through the night last night he kept running round my bed for hours in the middle of the night the night before he had night terrors.

Also scared of nearly every cbeebies programme atm, this coincided with his play skills improving? hes really hard work atm.

DS2 seems to go in this pattern. One improves, the other declines, then it switches around. I've just kind of assumed that the change in one throws the other off a bit. It'll be interesting to see what others have noticed in their DCs though.

Nice to know it's not just DS2.

salad, DD ( autism) also has this. whenever she makes progress in something, her behaviour completely deteriorates. the challenging behaviour usually only lasts a couple of weeks and then things start to calm down again ( until the next developmental spurt). hth
