Rang secretary to ask where letter is following app. She said its only been sent to GP not copied to me like it always is!!! Why would they do this?
Anyway have told her I want a copy so hopefully get it soon. It's probably full of how I'm a crazy mother!!!!

She's not the most reliable secretary in fact she's crap! So hoping she remembers to send it!

i think sometimes they get so wrapped up in the professional side of things they forget these DCs have parents... your GP should be able to provide you with a copy, or at least read his/hers

blooming jobsworths she probably 'forgot'

Chundle · 03/05/2012 13:01

Thanks unchartered. I'll give it two days then ring gp! Hopefully it will come in post at weekend. I did ask for it to be emailed which of course they can't/won't do!

I'm sure its just an oversight. I had to ring abpout one of ds's as the cc list included a totally different gp!

Chundle

Sounds like this woman forgot to send you a copy, what was her response when you advised her that you had not received this?.

Would ring up to insist that a copy is mailed asap. Also this Monday is a Bank Holiday.

Chundle · 03/05/2012 13:12

Maybe we have the same secretary star!

Oh damn forgot about that Monday! Thanks Attila. She told me someone had written it in her absence (which is what usually happens as she's always off ill!) But she said it was odd it hadn't been sent to me too and would send me one out

At least your paed writes letters. We are still waiting (GP, SALT and school) to recieve the follow-up report from our last appointment at the beginning of February.
Why does every single step take so long??

Chundle · 03/05/2012 13:23

God knows Alice! My bug bear is that the professionals are paid a lot of money to do their job right. And it doesn't happen.

It's by far the most fustrating thing! This happened with the paed letter last time. Now waiting yet again for the secretary to ring me to explain why there's no letter again. I have to ask her about the genetic screening bloods that were taken 3 months ago and still no word but am worried that by querying two things it'll just confuse her...sigh.
Wish me luck.

osospecial · 03/05/2012 13:34

We had dd's first paed report last fri and I was a bit surprised at how unprofessional it was.
She was seen on the 4th apr 2012 and the paed said she was seen on the 4th March 2011! She also put that dd started saying words a few months ago then stopped when it was actually a year+few months ago that I told her!
I think I would get the sack in my job if I sent a report/paperwork out as inaccurate as that

Chundle · 03/05/2012 13:43

Good luck Alice!!! You could email PALS and get them to jiffy the secretary along a bit.

Osospecial I'm gobsmacked by some of the innaccuracies we've had in reports!

Thanks chundle I had to ask PALS to kick her arse last time. It worked!

The issue of Paed letters is a major issue here too. We usually get copies (although I am still waiting for one from appointment 3 weeks ago).
Paed agreed reduction program for one of DDs meds to start 3 days after we saw her. Problem is Respite will only give medication as prescribed and labelled so until I and GP have letter from Paed, bottle cannot be labelled correctly and I had home respite here the other day and had to explain change in dosage without any written evidence!! On this occasion it was a reduction - so they ran with it - wouldn't have been as accomodating if it had been an increase though.
They really need to get these letters out within days of the appointments - not weeks.

Chundle · 03/05/2012 14:30

Bigblue on our letters we have a date of app on it then date letter typed. It's always typed with 7 days of app but then not sent for weeks!

I was actually asked a few years ago if I would like my copy clinic letters e-mailed to me. I of course said "Yes" and was about to give my e-mail address, when she told me "Oh we aren't doing it yet - just asking people if they'd prefer it!". Needless to say, nothing further has come of it.

I only ever get copy letters from Paeds anyway - never get anything from orthopaedics or opthalmology - in fact opthalmology used to have separate files (historical from when Eye hospital was separate) and they didn't even seem to copy their letters to the main paediatric file! Consequently Paeds didn't know that DD has Glaucoma and is on medication for it - until I told them. The 2 clinics operate about 20 yards away from each other!!!!

Ben10NeverAgain · 03/05/2012 15:49

Our letters take 6-8 weeks to come out. Hmm

Hope yours turns up soon!

Chundle · 03/05/2012 17:03

It's madness isn't it. You'd think the nhs would save a fortune emailing rather than posting!

Thanks Ben10

I was told the delay in getting the letter typed and sent out was due to work overload. This is from an appointment just over 3 months ago now! Are they still typing letters from clinics from 2011? F**king hell! It's just not good enough.
DD starts mainstream reception in September. We have been "in the system" since she just turned 2 and we are no further forward than we were then! Angry
