AS behaviour targets - reasonable?

Ds (11) is most probably getting ASD/AS dx very soon. He has a behaviour book with these targets and I would appreciate honest opinions whether you think these are likely to be achievable please: Resolve stressful situations effectively, listen to instructions from staff,think before I speak. TIA

I would have the third one removed, yes he may need to learn what is hurtful and not considerate language but he should not be afraid to speak, he could then be considered rude for not answering. Number one would depend on what stratergies are also being put in place. Number two should also have understanding, instruction are great only if you understand and if DS did not understand is he allowed to ask as number three may deter him.

Targets should be SMART.
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed

None of these targets seem like this to me. Why do they want him to think before he speaks? Is it because he shouts out or says inappropriate things or another reason? The target to listen to the staff is too vague. How do they assess whether he has done it? A better target would be something like, listen to instructions given to the whole class and follow them at least once a day without extra reminders. This is one of the targets that my DS has. The first target is so difficult that I suggest that it is given to the teachers rather than a pupil!!!!

It's one thing to specify what a problem is, and quite another to address them and monitor whether input is successful or not, using data.

What ooyu have here is nothing more than a reworidng of problems he is having, not what is gonig to be done about it. As Sotira says, it isn't SMART.

Thanks all - I think they are too vague for him too. The thinking before speaking is because he can be quite rude although doesn't realise that he is. The listening one probably relates to him not doing what he is asked a lot of the time. He is on a report system and the book has gone from green to amber for some reason, presumably because he's not meeting the targets! Will be discussing these with school.
