Please help fortify me for meeting at school tomorrow

We have a crunch-time meeting tomorrow - our ABA team vs ignorant prejudiced bastards school who have taken two terms to put in place support as per ds's statement.

Basically they have only very reluctantly provided any support for ds, and don't really want to work with us and our ABA team, and are only doing so on paper because they have to after they got grassed up by me told to by the LA.

TAC meeting tomorrow called to discuss how to progress. It will essentially be a battle between our consultant and them.

I know really that it's fundamentally pointless as they won't really change, but any ideas for ammunition which they absolutely cannot argue against - or any other tips please?

Bialy, no advice I'm afraid. I've no experience of ABA, but bumping for you...

Take someone to take notes for you.
Dress smartly.
Keep calm.
Don't leave without a clear plan of action as noted by you and confirmed by them as correct.

Good advice moondog thank you.

I have found it hard to keep focussed with school meetings, and have left them before kicking myself for not saying xyz or forgetting something crucial. Strange really as in my former life I was pretty senior career-wise and never got phased by anyone. I guess it's different when it's about my own child, and also dealing with people who are basically lying and serving up platitudes - standing on shifting sands.

Flatter the school. Find something positive to say about school. Try to use language like, "we all want what is best for DS"

I asked for the learning support assistant to write what she did each day in the home school communication book. I now have proof that what is on paper does not actually happen in school.

Definately take notes

Make sure you have someone with you as back up with someone on your side even if not saying anything keeps you calm and confident :)

I dont now anything about ABA but have learnt enough today to say stick to your guns in a polite, firm non budging way xxx

Good luck tomorrow :)
