Our G age 5 dxd HF ASD delayed expressive language

Got a C.A.R.S. rating score of 32 that's mild to moderate aged 3 but Paed has just said in their report his "autistic behaviours and traits are quite severe and entrenched" - aged 5.

So where does that put him?

I understand his severity can change but opposite ends of the spectrum? Or are these two different things?

I doubt whether they will do another C.A.R.S. rating score.

Confused.

We got mild to moderate on the C.A.R.S, I found the questions quite strange. I don't really know the answer so bumping up and hope someone can help.

Who did the CARS? It is an appalling test used often by the education bunch (never medical) because it underestimates a childs difficulties and justifies less support.

Ours was done by the autism advisory service. I never put much trust in it myself but i suppose I wanted to believe he was only mild to moderate.

Well this is what happened with me. I got an independent specialist to do it. It came out at 39 moderate - severe.

Autism service did it a week later and I failed to tell them it had been done. They scored 31 mild-moderate.

Stupid test. I got a copy and spent the next few weeks redoing it myself. Tbh, it can pretty much come out as anything.

Thank you I had a good holiday, although we were all ill one by one. I'm sure DS is handed his cold as he walks out the door for a holiday from school.
