SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Would a three seater buggy be useful for older children? Sorry, odd question.

I shall explain. I was bought the Titanic of all buggies six years ago - the monster Mothercare off-roady type travel system. It's a bloody massive three wheeler and designed for the country, with air tyres etc <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=mothercare+three+wheeler+extreme&hl=en&sa=X&rls=com.microsoft:en-GB:%7Breferrer:source%3F%7D&rlz=1I7DSGJ_enGB389&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=lXaJimSBJ1deKM:&imgrefurl=www.mypushchair.co.uk/mothercare-urban-detour.php&docid=685T7bN3EmIYNM&imgurl=www.mypushchair.co.uk/detour-xtreme3wheeler-travel-system.jpg&w=200&h=228&ei=Pk6NT4TnHc2h8gOwlNjBCw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=1&sig=113902974186322993665&page=1&tbnh=127&tbnw=111&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0,i:67&tx=53&ty=67" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">similar

Anyway, I have this thing in my parent's loft and no use for it. The car seat part is prolly out of date and I cba with Ebay. Do you think it would be useful for an older child, looking at the style of it? It could certainly take more weight than usual buggies. It's also relatively easy to push a heavier weight, cos of the tyres maybe. The rain cover goes right down to the foot rest point bit at the front and quite high.

If so, what would be the best way of giving it away? My freecycle is just full of re-sellers atm and of course I'd be loath to say something crass like 'would suit someone with a child with SN'. And the last time I took stuff into the local Surestart it was given to the profit-making on-site nursery But I think it could be helpful IYSWIM.

Any ideas?

www.cerebra.org.uk/English/gethelp/Freecycle/Pages/default.aspx. might be worth trying?

I had one of those, good until about 4 but not much bigger than most buggies really. I found ds's feet started to scrape the front wheel and it got quite heavy. Why not try a local charity shop or even contact local ss, they may have a list of emergency foster parents in need of something like that, I was told about that by my HV when a friend had a double buggy she had only used twice and was in a similar position as you.
