Breaded Chicken - LittleBear

My DS4 has maintained a dislike of meat that has NOT been through some industrial process, so imagine my delight tonight when for tonight's tea I made the DC homemade chicken schnitzels which were flavoured with lemon zest. LittleBear has eaten the lot. Unbelievable!! The poor dog looked most disgruntled when her usual source of food was temporarily suspended! Grin

Lucky little Bear sounds yum. Annabel Karmel has a chicken fingers recipe which is good too and you can just say it's chicken nuggets for tea and they are none the wiser.

I make my own burgers and fishcakes, so homemade Annabel Karmel chicken nuggets (fingers) should go down well too. I was very pleased. I don't know if your DC are like this, but he is very faddy and fussy. Goes through stages when he can't get enough of something, eg apples and then won't touch them the next. It's like he ODs on stuff Confused

Yup, I know that one sallybear, Dd3 will eat one particular thing obsessively and then suddenly she hates it.

Only trouble is due to her poor theory of mind she thinks we just know when she doesn't like it anymoreHmmHmmGrin.

Well done to littlebear for eating his chicken. Dd3 will eat goujons[nuggets], or chicken in stir fry but not roast chicken or chicken pieces. LOL Work that one out.

Bbc goodfood have a recipe for homemade chicken nuggets that you make in a big batch freeze and then cook from frozen. These are my favourite back up meal. Just red pesto, chicken breast and bread crumbs.

DS2 will eat chicken nuggets, but for the longest time wouldn't touch roast chicken meat (just from a regular cooked chicken). Recently he decided to try it (although he called it tuna Hmm but who am I to argue if he eats it, right? Grin) and liked it. Now he eats just a little with some encouragement. He won't just eat the chicken off a piece of chicken (like a drumstick) though.

How lovely Grin

Is it to do with the texture? I found that DS over chewed meat until it was so dry he couldn't swallow it ( and I had the same problem as a child - nothing to do with SN - I think its quite common).
If so I found that things like home made burgers ( mince and mixed with grated onion and not pressed hard - just in my hand) were ok as was bolognaise and meatballs and similar stuff.
We gradually progressed onto real meat.

Good luck.....

Can I have some - they sound yummy :o

My DS is obsessed with Hot Cross buns at the moment - he is getting through 5 or 6 a day. I hope he has moved onto a different food obsession before the buns start disappearing from the shops.

DS1 will eat chicken in the form of chicken nuggets coated in crushed cornflakes as by Annabel Karmel. He used to like the M&S Chicken Teddies or Caterpillars until I stopped buying them!

He likes really crunchy textures so plain roast chicken just doesn't cut it.
