We have been doing this for a couple of months. I think it seems reasonable etc and DD is making progress but there are no evaluative studies as far as I can see...anyone got any experience of this they can share?

Well I am not sure what I would say. I was put onto a book 'Every Child Can Learn' by Katrin Stroh and a therapist for this method through personal networks - in this book its called functional learning. The basic idea is that developmentally delayed children need basic learning tools like placing put in place for them in a hand over hand asocial lesson. We have been doing this for about 2 months, seeing a therapist fortnightly and it does seem to connect up our daughters brain with her body. She seems better able to manipulate objects, better tracking (my D is 2.2 and has GDD)
I ahve been trying to find out more about the technique and now know it originates from the work of a neurologist called Geoffrey Waldon who pioneered this method in the 1970s.

But apart from case studies and indiv testimonials there is nothing evaluative of this method I can locate. There is plenty of theory about how we develop understanding and how children learn to learn but none of this seems tested.

I feel I have insufficient background in this to really evaluate any of the theories etc myself. It all sounds plausible but what do I know.
So...no one has heard of it and I wonder if we are in the depths of kooky mckookyland...
