Earwax removal with ASD child

I took my ASD 6-year old to the doctor today as one of his ears is completely blocked with earwax. For a while his ear lobe on that ear has been bright red at night time and I am sure the two may be linked.
The doctor said that I should put olive oil in his ear to unblock it. I have tried this before but the sensation of having something in his ear completely freaked him out and he said that he did not want it done again. The Dr suggested that I should give him phew regain to knock him out and then put the olive oil drops in. When I told her that as a result he would refuse to go to sleep due to his anxiety of having something put in his ear, she dismissed us saying that she was running late for the next appointment.
Just as expected, ds refused to go to bed unless I promised that I would not put drops in his ears.
What Should I do? Can I get the wax syringed out? The dr said not, as it was too dangerous to do on a child. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Read this. here. It may helpSmile. My first thoughts as DS the same issue with waxy ears and hates oil, was hot water bottle and massage.
