DS's new NHS S&LT came into see him recently.

She has actually reported back that he is below the accepted range for his age in expressive language test she did.

Why has no one picked this up before? We have had a leading S&LT consultant (who seems mainly to do Tribunals) and two NHS therapists.

DS's statement has always said his concrete language skills are good but he has the social communication problems that go with ASD

How does this differ?

I understand from speaking to the SEN Consortium and a barrister today that:

If a local authority is a pilot authority, then it should be (as a minimum) providing information and advice about the scheme with any SEN statement or LDA issued since the pilot started (para 3 of the regulations), considering any request for direct payments (para 3) and then giving reasons and a right of review of any decision not to make direct payments (para 13).

I also understand that guidance is awaited from the Dept of Education on this topic.
