Dear All,
I am a student at the Royal College of Art, finishing my master degree soon.I am doing a design/research project on siblings of children with Austistic Spectrum Disorders. I am sure you know this already, but growing up with a child with ASD can be beneficial but has also a lot of challenge. I am looking if design can be a part of families' daily life (and/or therapies) as a physical medium (eg : object) to facilitate communication and relationship between parents and the typically developing child.
I am looking for families that could be interested and willing to speak to me about their relationship with the non-autistic sibling. If you have a child with Autism aged 4-15, who has a typically developing sibling aged 5-16, both living at home, I would be very thankful if you and the typically developing sibling could take part of my project.
It would be absolutely great to be able to hear from parents and children in this situation, about their personal stories, but also comment on ideas and concepts of my academic project...maybe try the prototypes and creating them with me of you are willing to. I hope the final result will be able to help parents show their attention to children, and help deal with any "in need of attention" feeling from the young child.
(note : just so you know, my CRB file is being processed at the moment)
Please feel free to contact me directly by email ([email protected] ) , message and I can tell you more about it.
Best wishes,
Marie
