Just had a call this morning.
As its our first request they have granted the three things we asked for :)

my DS get hrc and lrm mainly for language problems, but he also has dyspraxia, anxiety and a specific learning difficulty. I got the application form but then decided not to apply as I had heard someone say (I think it might have been on here) that their friend had applied for their DC with similar difficulties but had been turned down because they weren't deemed to be in as much need.

Is it worth applying do you think?

They have their own criteria. They basically quiz you on the difficulties that the disability causes your family. DS gets the same DLA for dyspraxia, SPD and probable ASD and she said that he scored well within their range for granting an award. It is a very short form so no harm in applying. You may well get a home visit but they are very friendly and helpful. She even thought of more things for us to have as we hadn't applied for enough.

Thanks ben10 I think I will fill it in, although I'm not sure who I would put down as a reference.

we were told that the award for children getting DLA at higher rate is automatic, no visits or references required (we put our HV down but they didn't contact her) if you meant the income criteria.

It took them about a month to process our claim - we only applied fr one thing (an ipad) but they told us to apply for extra things up to the value of about £850. It was our first application too & they said that the award would be less in subsequent years.

meet the income criteria

We still had the visit with HRC and LRM and meeting the income criteria. She said to apply every year until he is 18 even though I said that I didn't think we would qualify this year as the TC thresholds are changing.

I put down his OT as a reference.

It was such a great experience to deal with the FF and to be given something to help him. I actually couldn't believe it. :)

Hi we got a grant last year and got a visit. Just wondering if on subsequent grants they still do a visit and ring your doctor etc ? Just wondering whether to expect a visit and to consider who to put on form to be called. Thanks

Chundle · 29/03/2012 14:13

Sorry forgot say we still got a visit even though get HRC visitor said should have been automatic grant though and she shouldn't have had to visit

lisad123 · 29/03/2012 19:53

We didn't have a visit but they called autism advisory teacher who works with both girls
