Has written a witness statement for tribunal discharging DS from SALT services based on no need for SALT and therefore for placement at SALT school.

This is based on PLS crap assessment and class teacher saying nothing wrong with his functional language.

OT done similar.

WTF?

We were 'discharged' from SALT prior to a tribunal too but afterwards they said it was a mistake and that they had used a discharge sheet when actually it was just a report...

auntevil · 07/03/2012 15:09

I have a collection of discharge letters. I get the feeling that when they don't know what to do - instead of putting their thinking caps on - they discharge.
Did you get the bit on the letter where it says 'if you find that you need our help further down the line, please do not hesitate to get back in contact (main office no. given - not direct line) . Don't believe it - its rubbish - you have to go right back through the whole procedure again.
Only consolation in our PCT is that you can self refer to OT and get back on the list Wink

No. She was told by the LAs solicitor to write that DS didn't need SALT because he has autism and therefore an Indi SALT school was the wrong provision.

Actually to be fair it wasn't actually the SALT that has been seeing DS that has written it. She was too much of a rebel to be made to do such a thing, so first they changed his SALT and then the new one said it.

God what a nightmare! These people have got no bloody ethics.

How often had this new S&LT seen him?

AgnesDiPesto · 07/03/2012 16:03

Tossers!
Sorry can't think of anything else to say.
You have lots of evidence the other way and I expect this will come across at tribunal as cynical.
Presumably the current school will be saying they can help him?

StarlightDicKenzie · 07/03/2012 16:04

Once, but she 're-interpreted' the old SALTS report and assessment and 'updated' the recommendations Hmm

A normal court would see right through it but I have little faith in the tribunal panel. Which I guess is why they are doing it!

Sounds just like my PCT then, no SALT provision if you have ASD. Wonder why they have SALT ASD specialists then Hmm.

Words fail me Angry. I though joint provision between LAs and Health for SALT, CAMHs etc was meant to be the way forward, instead it looks like a stitch up sometimes based on service agreements and funding Angry Angry (sorry, making assumption that you have joint provision like in my area)

StarlightDicKenzie · 07/03/2012 23:42

DH says not to worry. They are making up evidence and using ludicrous arguments be size it is the only strategy they have. He also pointed out that they would do this because they have got away with it before but that we'll not get the same stupid tribunal panel at least.

Sounds like your dh is right.

I assume this SALT will be going to Tribunal to defend her assessment? I am sure you have enough evidence to prove to the tribunal otherwise.

wasuup3000 · 08/03/2012 00:15

Our NHS SALT report for my ds basically says he is in his own world but its OK as its happy there. The LA have chosen to put this comment in their working document for the tribunal thinking it proves that he doesn't need SALT..........

StarlightDicKenzie · 08/03/2012 07:08

Lol wasuup!

You are going to FOI for all the SALT notes, emails, meetings etc before tribunal right?

StarlightDicKenzie · 08/03/2012 17:51

Agnes, I'm not sure what I'm going to do tbh. I probably will get the info but it takes forever with the PCT and they charge and you also have to spend months chasing down documents they forgot to put in!

Fio,

Thank you for that extensive post. I'm not afraid of being grilled by a barrister or even paperwork. What I afraid of is yet more of my time being taken from my children.

I'll think about what you have said and, if you don't mind PM you about my ridiculous homebirth battle!?
