Has anyone any advise on this?

My son is 7 and needs Cathing every two hours for life now. We have great support from the Evelina, and he is doing well, but it's a tough call. Any experience anyone has that may help would be wonderful.

He has EDS [I know there is a thread on this, but CIC is used for many disabilities and I wanted to broaden the search]. He has autonomic nervous system dysfunction, alongside his EDS.

We are using instillagel for pain relief for the CIC, and uncoated catheters as his fingers cannot cope with their slippery coating as he has fine motor difficulties.

We are learning 'how to' with a view to him taking over when he is able/comfortable to.

DS required catheterization and we opted for a suprapubic catheter (hewas blind/cp) which could be left on free drainage or clamped and released at regular intervals. However there is a procedure a Mitroffonoff which makes self catheterization much easier. Good luck.
