Its only been about 7 weeks since DS was referred to Ed Psychologist,so i know we are very lucky not to have to wait months.
I'm feeling very nervous, not sure why.ConfusedI know DS has some problems, but this sort of makes things real.iykwim.
Not sure what i'm asking really.Advice on what may happen?
I'm not even sure yet if i well get to see the EP.DS's class teacher is trying to find out for me.She seems to think that the EP will come in afew times to see DS first, before setting up a meeting with me.
Anybody had any experiance with EP.
Thanks

Sorry I can't offer advice as we are just waiting for our ed Psyc app. For Ds age 11yrs. Recent dx AS.
Could be a long wait!
Will keep my eye on here though because I was wondering what happens with assessment.

we had the EP visit my nearly 4 year old today. We are in ME, but its a british school.
She wants to visit us at home tomorrow to discuss her findings, and I assume to ask more questions.
Yes it feels very real, they feel he may have autistic traits, but does not seem to tick enough boxes for full autism. we shall see how things develop.
I see it as being a positive thing as without seeing her we are lost really. School and us need guidance how to handle some of his behaviour.

Good luck x

We had a specialist teacher come in instead of an Ed Psych (for dyslexia), but I think they are similar. DS saw her assistant on one day and her on another. She may have observed him too, but DS is hazy on the details so I don't really know what happened LOL! We were given no warning as to when they were coming in. They did lots of cognitive tests, and asked DS questions. He quite enjoyed the whole experience. :)

We never met with her and had to wait 6 weeks to receive the report which came via the SENCO. If we have any questions about the report we have to direct them through the school. I think that is unusual, though...

My experience was quite a while ago, but I only met the EP after she had observed my DS and assessed him using a variety of IQ type tests, WISC? We had a meeting to discuss her draft report which went on to form part of his SA. People with more up to date experience will hopefully be along.

My DS has ASD and his results varied wildly, from 14th centile for expressive language (which was generous!) to 99th for spatial 'something' to do with copying and matching 3D puzzles. I think a spiky profile is fairly typical of ASD, with relative strengths and weaknesses. That's if they cooperate with the test. My DS at 5 found it funny to consistently give the wrong answer first. Luckily the EP spotted this and disregarded that section...
