How to manage childcare if I want to go back to work?

I have twins who are 6. DD is NT and at school full time. DS has ASD and does school in the morning, I collect him at 12, an ABA tutor comes 1-4pm.

I am at the school collecting/dropping at 8.40am, 12am and 3pm. I am needed to look after DS 12-1.

At the moment I freelance from home which fits in really well (and i'm lucky to have that option i know) but I hate working on my own and get lonely, I find it hard to get motivated and I would just love to get a job in an office, earn a regular wage, meet new people, be part of a team etc.

If I return to my pre-children field I would need to work full time, at least 9-5 though I might be able to aim for a 3 or 4 day week.

How can I make that work with childcare/school pick ups? I can't can I? I could get a CM maybe for after school but the lunchtime bit is still a problem and that's before I even think about sick days for the DCs or ABA tutors and school hols etc. < sigh > And if childcare took up my whole salary there would be no point going through the stress anyway.

I'm going to have to suck it up until DS goes full time at school aren't I? And ideally I want that to be as long away as possible so we can keep on with the ABA...aaargh!

If you have SEN children and work how do you do it?

Tbh I think the key is whether your child can access mainstream childcare. Ds1 can't so I work from home. Theoretically I could use direct payments to get a carer in - and SS are meant to support you in working- but it's just too hard ime. If ds1 coukd access mainstream childcare (even with support) it would be fine.

Could your ABA tutors work independently at all?
