Cranial osteopathy has helped

We took our DS2 who has language delays and chronic constipation to a cranial osteopath this week and his speech has improved - he seems more fluent in putting words together and his eye contact is much better in fact I dont think he now has a problem with eye contact anymore. After the session he did a lot of good sized poops too. I dont know what they did but something great happened and he is going back for his next session on Thursday. I hope this may be of some help to other parents with a child they are worried about.

Can I ask how old is your DS. We are using one at the moment for DS2 who is 4 months and it makes a difference. I was thinking of taking DS1 there as well but was worried how he will cope there as he does not sit still. DS1 is 2.7.

I took DS to a cranial osteopath at 10, and it helped.

I would certainly recommend it.

My son is having cranial and in just 2 session we have noticed a vast improvement with his speech - he has a significant speech and language disorder and additional delays and we are very impressed. He's on session 3 of 10 so fingers crossed for continued development. I would recommend it.

I've always assumed that cranial osteopathy is for babies who had traumatic births.

Oodles - DS had a straight forward non emergency caeserian birth.

He was 10 when I took him (on the sound learning centres recommendation). He couldn't move his head very much. Ie he couldn't move his head back to look up or to the side to take a breath in swimming.

And some of his retained reflexes weren't improving with therapy.

He had about 10 sessions (at £30 each). He always said he felt better after them. And he certainly has normal range of motion in his neck now.

I can't remember the details of his improvements. I just filed it in my head as 'worked - would recommend' :)

He would come out of the sessions so tired he could hardly walk to the car.

Mine too. Has had cranial osteopathy at birth (for puking) and regularly now for the last 3 years. Big benefits

Becaroooo · 05/03/2012 12:55

This is on my to do list for ds1 (after TH) Wish I had done it when he was younger Sad

oodlesofdoodles · 06/03/2012 11:51

Interesting. What's the theory behind it?

Lovely!

Back to osteopathy, it sounds a bit like acupuncture or Tai chi.

oodlesofdoodles · 07/03/2012 19:33

Indigo, do you mean your ds wasn't improving on asymmetric tonic neck (?) reflexes, but the cranial osteopathy did the job?

IndigoBell · 07/03/2012 19:37

Yes.

IndigoBell · 07/03/2012 19:38

Sound Learning Centre recommended we go to an Osteopath because some of his reflexes were stuck.

This was after we'd been doing RRT for about a year.

Fio - Gareth butler is an osteopath who also does retained reflex therapy.

Just in case your DH knows him or something :)

Hi my son is 3 in 2 weeks time and we thought he would never sit still as wont wear a hat or have his hair brushed etc, but we had 2 osteopaths - both ladies - working at once and he seemed to really enjoy it!
Glad to hear back from so many people that they had good experiences with this therapy too. We are going for session 2 this afternoon so fingers crossed we will see improvement again I'll repost soon to update you X

Hello! My son is 2 years old, we had traumatic birth. We have two problems. One- He was born with positional talipes. With regular exercises given by physios we have managed to get rid of it but we are still concerned about his right foot and would like specialist to check it. (GP said it is okay and nothing to do about it) Two- He has obvious speech delay.
Would osteopaths be able to help us? Thank you☺️
