I have looked around but get conflicting answers so thought I'd find people who know here......

Can the docs make a diagnosis of Aspergers if there was absolutely no speech delay at all?

WIll they make a diagnosis of anything if there were multiple POTENTIALLY neurologically threatening events in the infant period?

We have been told ADHD by one educational psychologist and Aspergers by another (I know they can't make a diagnosis) I am not convinced he meets either of those

I am struggling with understanding the emotional side of Aspergers and what that means and when I read about it every time I want to be left alone by my children I start thinking I am on the spectrum, and my Sis is such moody cow maybe she is too and dh handwriting is so poor I wonder about him........
As you can see my head is spinning and I would be grateful for an answer
Thanks

Yes southwest mine was full term too, then poorly later. I was trying to say that a big disruption to normal development can cause autistic type symptoms.

I'm reading a fascinating book atm called the Well Balanced Child about movement and child development. So if a child spent weeks and months flat on their back in an itu it disrupts later development.

Waves there aren't lots around

Ds looked really silly big full term baby alongside all the weeny tiny ones

as an aside I found the whole set up really unsupportive did you? People didn't know what to do Docs out of their depth, no where to stay,

Actually we were very lucky and well supported in both paediatric hospitals.

We thought the NHS was bloody brilliant, so the lack of care post discharge felt like a terrible betrayal.

I hope you get the answers you are looking for but IME you'll get more info from books like the one above and mumsnet than from doctors. For my ds they've been either 'oh he'll catch up' - well not without help he won't, or just measuring and assessing his short comings.

Ummm although I think I found it not so good because everyone goes on about how great some things are......
Great in a relative way clearly

Our local was probably better in terms of allowing me to stay than the paed place we ended up however our local was also the place that stuck us in a room with loads of infectious kids and gave ds bronchiolitis and then the other place cancelled surgery because of it.

We found the doc really difficult at the paed place too so that doesn't help.
We have had an appointment and now have assessments a go go thankfully most of them involve them going to school to see him so that's easier for me!!
Ds rated the toys and wants to go back (apparently they have more than a toy shop!!) and we even got a free parking permit!!!
