Statutory assessment going ahead, seen EP, she saw DS at home (not in school at moment) and she will send me a copy of her report, had report from autism outreach teacher but don't know if I should contact school to ask for a copy of what they have sent in?

Any experience of this? Thanks

I ask for a copy of all reports, you never know when you may need to reference them in future.

I have 2 key reasons

1/ Reports can often contain really basic errors and if you aren't careful those errors could snowball. (eg my OT's report misspells his name, criticiises my rented accomodation, when I'd clearly told her I'm an out of work home owner etc, etc. The pead's assessment said he'd regressed at 6 when it was years earlier and so on).

2/ Part of my reasoning for doing this is that my PCT say they've lost all DS's medical notes from 0-4, so I've learnt a harsh lesson, as there's no "proof" for this time period now.

3/Schools can play a nasty game of blame the parent for their own shortcomings. The HT of DS's old school tells such outrageous lies, several parents are secretly amazed she's never tripped over her own nose Wink.

I asked for a copy of the reports before the 'Panel-nonsense' saw them, but was refused them.

You will see them eventually as they'll all be Appendices within the Statement, but it would be helpful if you were given the chance to correct any inaccuracies before the Panel saw them rather than when they've been issued as part of the Propsed Statement

LAs are instructed by the SEN COP to 'work in partnership with parents'.

That's a laugh!

Thanks bochead and WetAugust. I will ring and ask on Monday but not be surprised if they don't give me a copy. God, it is so long-winded isn't it?
