ds has been discharged again from SALT, managed to get him seen and they have said he has severely disorganised speech, he will need years and years of work but they cant do anything till hes older hes only 3yrs 2months.

they are saying that all his behaviour/quirks/social and play delays are down to his speech (i disagree) he is so hard to understand, if it is his speech then we are going to be left till hes 5 if it isnt then hes still going to be left because thats what they think it is.

they make me doubt myself but i know deep down its not speech thats the main problem here... they dont see what i see but im losing the will to fight now

Write to them and ask why he has been discharged. What therapy they are recommending to start at what age and the references to the research that supports this plus a detailed list of references you yourself can research to skill yourself in the techiques you will need to support their work when they start.

Who referred him to salt? Are you saying you want him assessed for autism?

saladsandwich · 27/02/2012 21:29

he was referred to SALT at 18months because he was delayed in speech and communication, GP refered him he didnt start talking till 2ys.6m think he had about 7 words, his speech came on leaps and bounds but he isnt understood because nearly all his words he swaps the first letter for other letters.

he attended rythm an sound group then they just said they where having a massive overhaul of the services in the area and they where discharging children when they had tese sessions. i kicked up a fuss but they are now saying there is nothin g they can do till hes older?

ds is under community paed, his developmental report says he is delayed in language, social, play and fine motr skills by about 12months but they just ignore everything i say, the paed laughs when i mention his behaviour, our lives are hell and they are saying its all his speech, i dont know if its autism but i know somethings not right, i knew as a baby.

i've just had enough
