Hi, never posted here before, just got diagnosis of ADHD for DS who is 6 years old. Just looking at leaflets given to me by comunity paed consultant and checking out website links. This was one of them...just wondering if any one has any experience of this programme or any others? also any advice, help would be gratefully received, just feeling a bit over whelmed with it all :(

I heard dore isnt that good. Have you looked at Sunflower Therapy? You can get a bursary for this so you don't have to pay for it x

No not heard of sunflower therapy, this all new to me so just trying to read round and look on the net. Dore was just one of the links at the end of the leaflet from the OAASIS leaflet I got from the doctor. Any help suggestions gratefully recieved. Got to go back in 2 months to talk somemore with doc without DS and talk through possible medication. Don't feel I want this at the moment though. So confused.

My friend is doing dore with her 9 yo asd boy. I think she got a grant to pay for it. He does physical and eye exercises twice a day. She logs the results and then het next days exercises emailed. She says its improving his core strength, but he still struggles with eye tracking.

It sounds similar to RRT to me.

sorry -whats RRT? thanks

RRT = retained reflex therapy

I would recommend searching through previous posts for RRT and "Retained Reflex Therapy"

Dore is one of many neurodevelolment therapies. I only know one person who's done it and they're very happy with it.

I've done / am doing 2 neurodevelolment therapies - both of which I'd recommend:

tinsley house clinic
sound learning centre

other ones that people here like are:
sunflower
inpp
hemispheres

I would def recommend choosing one of these therapies and going for it. That is the only way you'll know if it will help your child or not.

My top recommendation would be tinsley house clinic.

I've used it, so I know it works
it's cheaper than dore
it's fairly easy to do
doesn't require much time (a few minutes 3 times a day)

but really any of the neuro development therapies should help.

Thankyou so much, will start looking into them. Would prefer to keep to a more drug free approach if possible for now. Early days and all that.

Read this thread

HolyCalamityJane has had very good results by doing tinsley house instead of drugs for ADHD. Her DD is 5, and the multivitamins she is now on worked so well that school thought she was on ADHD drugs.

Lol when you said you were exploring links and this was one I thought you meant MN and was very impressed indeed!

Denellen · 27/02/2012 19:36

lol, no chance. No Dore was mentioned so had been looking at their website. I am on a steep learning curve. Going back to the community paed consultant in 2 months to discuss any concerns, questions and the possiblity of medication. But cant bring myself to get past the negatives of ritalin at the present. My DS has a poor appetite at best so think he would loose weight no question.

Thanks for the tinsley house thread link indigobell. Made my way through it and reserved a copy of the brain food plan from the library, plus a understanding adhd one.

Just marking my place am interested in these therapies to use in conjunction with the healthy eating routeSmile

Denellen · 28/02/2012 21:11

So I have a copy of the brain food diet and have started that. I spoke to a lovely lady at Dore who said they could see DS at 7 years -he was a little young at present. It would cost about £500 for assessment and £1500 for the programme. Crikey best start saving! In the mean time she suggested plenty of fun exercise, swimming, trampolining, throwing and catching. I have also sent for info on Inpp -they are the nearest to me so would be the easiest to get to. For those that have had funding to do programmes where has this come from I wonder?
