Ideas for supporting reluctant writer with ASD?

Has anyone any suggestions for supporting a y1 chil with ASD who refuses to attempt writing? He can use the computer to record, but class teacher would like some attempt at writing. As far as I can tell (haven't met him yet), he won't put pencil to paper at all. I'm planning on multi sensory activities such as sand, dough etc and some other fine motor skills activities. Any ideas that have worked for you/ your child? Thanks

ds prefers a white board as he hates getting things wrong on paper. Has he got any special interests? DS has produced his longest ever piece of written work at school this week (about 4 lines, he is yr 1 too) because he was allowed to write about Harry Potter. He isn't a pencil refuser but an avoider iyswim. Lego is brilliant for fine motor activities, ds would play all day if he could and I figure it helps with fine motor skills.

Weak muscles so hard to hold the pencil perhaps. short fat pencil is easier to hold. -then there are lots of exercises to strengthen fingers - beads hidden in theraputty, squashing and tearing paper etc.
Will child draw or paint?

We are using glitter pens at the moment (recommended by dyslexia tutor). Smile
