OT - complaint body

Would like to complain about OT
Ds2 and his needs are not being met at all,he is nearly 9
found out the other day he weighs nearly 50lb but because he has low muscle tone, he feels much heavier.
We have no hoist or other equipment except for hospital cot
physio told me that OT was supposed to sort this out, as we are not supposed to carry him
we are supposed to just get on with it
She has been here at least 5 occasions to assess his needs but she has done sweet FA
Have phoned today but she is not in (wot a suprise) until monday aft.
I am going to ask her for copies of ds2's assessments and also in writing why
she told ds2 social worker that my dh, informed council that we would sort out extension ourselves (which dh hasnt said one word to no-one, and I certainly havent told professionals my opinions and ideas)
apparently for her to speak to sw about our business is a breach of confidentiality
btw havent seen her for 12 months.
sorry bout rant
but is there a governing body I can make official complaint to
do not want it done internally re health authority as it will probably be whitewashed

any info appreciated

Perhaps contact these people to find out exactly who you need to complain to or the primary care trust who employs her if NHS, although I understand why you may think that a waste fo time.

Hi, How about getting in touch with the ots line manager, because whoever you complain to it will be passed to the line manager to investigate anyway. You can always get in touch with your local childrens rights officers and tell them that your childs special needs are not being met. Under the 1989 children act, local authorities and corporate parents(health, education,etc) have a duty to respond to assessed needs of children with disabilities. In my proff opinion (social worker), complaining to line manager or even director will get things moving pretty quickly, perhaps even mentioning going to your local press about the 'lack of support, advice and guidance you are given to care for your child in the community'.

I'm surprised you haven't had copies of OT's report(s) and you should ask for them. Does Parnet Partnership help with this kind of thing or does it only cover Education? I would definitely go to the OT's Manager, it helped me a lot with Soc Svs. Can you get an email address? That way you have a record. You can usually guess their email addresses once you know the formula, that has also helped me immensely and its quicker. Good luck.

Would like to thank you all for your replies, at present I am waiting on phonecall before I put in official complaint to line manager and social services.
I will be sending copy to OT also.
