How sweet...

We see lots of posts about badly our DCs are treated out in the big wide world and wanted to share something that has kept me smiling all day

DD (4.8yrs - possibly ASD/Dyspraxia) came home yesterday with a small golden figure - small enough to hold in her hand.

It appears to be a stopper from some sort of bottle, it's plastic and obviously not valuable.

A girl in her class gave it to her, said if she kept a hold of it, it would help her with her balance.

How sweet! I love stories like that.

or when our dc's surprise us.

It's brilliant when we're pleasantly surprised like this isn't it. For every crap and ignorant experience we and our dc's encounter, we have to remember that there's still a lot of good, caring and thoughtful people out there. It's even more touching when it's a child who restores our faith.

Is she friends with the girl who gave it to her? What a lovely, thoughtful girlSmile

Sorry, i'm not sure what happened there! Was supposed to have deleted "or when our dc's surprise us."Blush

JaneMare · 23/02/2012 14:09

i didn't see anything wrong about the 'when our dcs surprise us' Smile

DD has lots of 'friends' - she calls anyone who speaks to her 'a friend' but they are spending a lot of time together in school

i think the other girl is looking after DD a lot...it's still bringing prickles to my eyes today

oh, that is really lovely Smile

sometimes, it is the smallest gesture (and made by the smallest people!) that can mean the most.

detoxneedednow · 23/02/2012 14:20

It was just that it was half a sentance which i'd deleted so it kind of didn't make any sense. ...........................if that makes senseHmmGrin

My dd is exactly the same. She calls everyone in her school her friend! She does have a few proper friends, but it's a slow processSmile

Has this girl been round for a playdate?

JaneMare · 23/02/2012 14:22

she hasn't been round yet, DD did get an invite to hers during 1/2 term but she was really poorly so couldn't go

i'm not so sure DD is ready for it yet tbh, and neither am i Blush

(please tell me this is normal for me to feel like this?)

God, what's normal?!!Grin

What makes you think she's not ready? Before you answer that, I know exactly how you feel when you say that you don't feel ready either. Dd's only had 3 play dates altogether and she's 5. Everytime I felt really anxious and wondered whether dd would tantrum etc, I was pleasantly surprised each time. That's not to say they went perfectly, but they went 10 times better than I thought they would.

That is realy heart warming :)

I bumped into a wee girl from my son's old (awful) school yesterday with her mummy and the wee girl said "make sure you say hi to Tom for me" so nice when a lot of kids don't give him the time of day

JaneMare · 23/02/2012 17:58

detox yes i know, it's me not her Sad

she will be as brilliant as she is in school Confused and save it all up for home as per usual
