If I'm in the wrong section please tell me to do one!

One of ds class mates is 6 in a couple of weeks and is having a party. He's in a chair and has a walking frame which he can use with help.

Suppose I was wondering if their a good website that would have something I could get him that wasn't a book? I'd like to get him something other than a book.

Its fine to ask here. No idea what 6 yos of any description like though! Could you ask his mum what his interests are. Just bought 3.5 yo CP a vtech smile as its fairly easy to handle, sort of arcade game affair, think this is a bit young and probably too expensive for a class party. You could try the Fledglings site for small toys.

can he use his hands? If he can then he can pretty much have what any 6 yo boy can play with. Lego etc

I bought Dd3's friend a remote control car he is 9 and has limited hand control.Smile

Does he have diplegia, or his whole body affected? If just legs then yy, anything that 6yo boys like Grin Lego, Pokemon, hero factory, bakugan

If whole body, then I would ask his mum, don't worry about offending. Grin dd2 has cp and is 8. We have had some staggeringly unsuitable presents over the years and I never know whether to be glad that they think she can do this stuff, or fret about how wrong people can be... Grin in truth I'm not sure they even consider ability, which is kind of nice. But a real pita when I have to do whatever freaking teeny tiny craft kit shows up. Grin

Dd2 is alarmingly good with remote control helicopters.... No idea how or why. We started her early with v tech smile because it was likely she would have to have a power chair, so something worked...

Bless you for trying I am sure his mum would appreciate your efforts I know I would. Can't offer any help though.

Thanks for the replies
Not sure if he has enough dexterity for lego, hero factory or bakugan. I might try a simple remote control car, I like the idea of a helicopter, but not sure whether he's got enough hand control.

I'll get ds to ask him at school, he is Cricket crazy, but I'm sure he's got everything he could possibly need for that.

My DD sounds similar to this boy although she is only 4. I would much prefer to be asked than for her to get things that are very young for her which is what often happens (hope that helps!)

My 7 yo (nt) ds has a very simple remote control hotwheels car - not too pricey either. FWIW his best presents have always been books - you can get some great pop up books on dinosaurs and things which might be a bit more interesting! This is his absolute favourite (although might be a little expensive?) www.amazon.co.uk/Encyclopedia-Prehistorica-Dinosaurs-Definitive-Pop-Up/dp/0763622281

I think you are fab to have asked - poor dd keeps getting these Polly Pocket things as presents which I can't even manage to dress never mind her with her fine motor problems!
