Haircuts have overtaken my deep hatred over shoe shopping as the Number 1 Horrible Painful Thing To Do In The Holidays.

Every bloody time she sits and nods and agrees that it is ok.

Every single bloody time she rants all the way home.

Every single bloody painful time she smashes something up afterwards.

I swear I can now recite her ranting word for vile, sweary word. I know she will do it, I expect her to do it, It still infuriates me when she does.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

my sympathies. haircuts are scheduled for saturdays here, and it's officially "black weekend". he spends the entire weekend falling apart. sensorywise, it's a nightmare. He can't stand the noise of the scissors or trimmer, the hair coming down, the hair touching his neck, anyone that close to his head, the water spritzer, the cape... none of it. He either spends the whole time shaking uncontrollably trying to remain calm or screaming and in tears. we never plan anything for that entire weekend

she's bloody fine while she's there. doesn't flinch. but explodes the minute we leave.

Every Time

and I can't have Wine as I have to pick up DD1 from the station later. Damn my bad planning.

I know how you feel, haircuts are not a happy outing here either! In fact DS1 is currently refusing to have a proper hair cut and will only let his grandma trim it! He REALLY needs a decent hair cut! My mum is not bad at cutting but DS won't let her thin it out. Hope you have a Wine later after you get home.

My dd is 5 and she hasn't had a hair cut yetConfused I know girls can get away with the Rapunzel look a little more than boys thoughGrin

Seriously though, my dd's hair is past her bottom and it gets washed about once every 3 weeks cos it's an absolute nightmare. She hates the water on her face atall, but especially in her ears. She completely loses it.

I keep asking her if she'd like to get it cut like her friends do and she seems excited by the idea, but as soon as we leave to get it done she screams no. She said the other day that she wants a fringeHmm Not sure how that's going to happen when dd can't stand anything on her face.

If we don't get her to the hairdressers soon she'll end up in the Guiness Book Of Records!!Grin

I wish you luck anyway.Smile

I have just cut DS's hair myself and it looks awful :( I am hoping it will grow quickly.

Oh god yes, the horror, DS1 once took one look at himself in the mirror and howled "you've ruined me", cue catsbum face from older lady hairdresser. We now go somewhere else and the boys are more tolerant though completely ignore friendly overtures of chatty hairdressers and sit with aloof stony, stares (I end up chatting inanely to cover up the silence...sigh).

Yes, haircuts are a horror, DS has a mullet right now due to my attempts at cutting his hair last week :(

FriggFRIGG · 16/02/2012 19:45

Oh god....it's haircut day on Wednesday.

Last time,she wouldn't sit still,
they put a large cushion on top of the seat and it totally freaked her out,she kept screaming that it was wobbly, jumping down and running around the room...
then they tried to cut it,every time the scissors made 'that noise' she'd turn around really quickly to see what it was,and the poor hairdresser nearly cut her nose off.
She sung at the top of her voice (default frightened mode)
And when it was finished....she cried.
She started Picking her hair up off the floor trying to 'stick' it back on her head...

But it has to get cut...she will only let me brush it about once a week, and she has ringlets that turn into dreadlocks when left.

Oh god...maybe I'll send DP this time...

We always cut my DS's hair when he falls asleep early, totally exhausted. It's like he's out cold and when it happens DH and I look at each other and say "Haircut? Toenails? Ear clean?"

He actually sleeps solidly through the hair clippers. It's such a blessing that we can do it but I do keep thinking that if we keep doing it this way, he'll never get used to the hairdresser, and will probably think that his hair is like Girls' World, destined to suddenly shrink overnight...

Taking DS tomorrow afternoon. Already he is going NOPE! cant get usual friend as he is away so it should be fun NOT

Its a girl this time similar build and hair to his sister so I am hoping the familiarity may relax him a bit. The OT did say someone told her when they were older that it hurt more when cut dry than wet for some reason so I am going to bath him first. Hairdresser also said to put a little conditioner on the ends of the hair to stop it snagging so having a go at that too :)

My son is 8 now and hasnt had his hair cut for years....it is very long and does suit him....brushing is a major battle too so we only brush occasionally.
