Hi All

Didn't want to post earlier in the week, as you all seemed to be having such a crap time and our half term was going quite well!! So just thought I'd post today and say that I hope that those of you who have had viruses etc are on the mend and that you will be able to get your children back into their normal routines next week so that you can spend more time on mumsnet.

DD had a day at holiday club earlier in the week and went 10 pin bowling and did some arts and crafts. Came home with lovely painted nails too! Before you get too jealous that she went to holiday club, it does involve me driving for 2 hours (1/2 hr each way x 2 return trips!!!)
Had home respite for her yesterday so I took DS clothes shopping (for him not me). I'll use the word respite loosely as shopping with DS (HF ASD + a teenager) is my idea of hell. He will only consider clothes if they are grey or black and is very definite about styles. I wasn't allowed to look at anything for me and one the one occassion I went to look at handbags (still trying to spend Christmas money) he took himself off to a chocolate shop and bought more chocolate (had already been in Thorntons) so was in a foul mood on way home - don't think all that sugar is good for him!!!!
It will soon be Monday - yeah

Been a great 1/2 term here.

DS went to a party at the weekend. Play dates and a day out with his Gran + a cinema trip with me (puss in boots as his cat is ginger) that all went well. I have to keep pinching myself to convince myself it's not been some kind of dream.

Got an IEP from the school with proper targets for the 1st time ever - still reeling from th shock. His SALT starts after 1/2 term so all good on that front. He's moved off the P scales for his writing and is now level 1C for writing. Only grey cloud is the dyslexia issue, as he's still only level 1 for English and maths and is year 3. But even there thanks to this board and schools recognition that there is an issue (years of being ignored takes it's toll) I have hope that we will overcome. (This time last year we were in such a dark place and I'll always be eternally grateful for the advice so many of you gave me, you have no idea).

Financially I'm up the swanny and my job hunt isn't going as well as I'd like but at least I'm ABLE to look for a job now. Something has to come up soon or repossession becomes a real possibility.

Ellen - don't back down - if you can handle an LEA you can deal with a prattish ex-husband! I'm so sorry re your Mum and hope this isn't going to overload you - take care of yourself OK?
