Do most people have both? Which is most helpful ? My Ds is 11yrs Dx HFA struggling with anxiety and eating probs at the moment he hates new secondary school.

DS1 sees an Ed Psych, but not a SALT, he is on the waiting list for OT for his writing. The Ed Psych has been great at getting provision sorted for him in school, but doesn't specifically help him out with any problems.

Depends what for.

Ed psych will report on your DC's difficulties as they stand in an educational environment. SALT will deal with actual speech and language difficulties.

That's what I was wondering his Dx is HFA or Aspergers but he doesn't have speech difficulties. He does have social difficulties afraid of busy places germs and eating difficulties and possible working memory probs. would a SALT ass. Be helpful for this sort of thing?

I think SALT is helpful tbh as there are hidden difficulties in children with ASD and there may be exercises that can help with that.

The trouble is that many SALTs have poor training in ASD so choose one carefully that understands how to get an accurate assessment and also what strategies would help.
