It isn't too late, Our neighbours ds is in Y11.

They were constantly told throughour primary that he wasn't on the spectrum. Within two weeks of HS they had been called in and referred. He was dx and got a statement. He has blossomed in HS and will be going to college next year.

Good luck :)

HI, iv a ds (13yr) who iv had a lot of problrems with on/off now for the last 10yrs, upuntill the last 2yr nothing over much was a concern how ever his social side had always been an issue but never delt with. His school now has seen a rise in his uncontroleable bad behaviour to where he is now permantly exluded from school. but threw the school seeing the increase in this problem they finally agreed that it needed addressing, so the SENCO, EDU PSYC, CHAMS, and a PEAD all got involved ( i did phone them all and chase up every thing i physically could, to where i was 1 step in front of them every time) my ds has now got a diagnosis of ODD/CD ( it could be worth you having a look at that 1, for i initally thought of Aspb and even asd, now he still isnt fully diagnosed but it has helped understand a few things. (soz about the spelling trying to do this, make tea, n chase after 4 kids, 2 ov which r sn. hope i havent rambled on to much.

curiousmama can I pm you?

ODD is Opositional difiant disorder, and CD is Conduct disorder.

Not too late. I was recently at a National Autistic Society 3 day course and there were parents in the room, a few actually, who'd struggled madly and hadn't received dx for their kids til 12 and 13+.

Not too late.

ds was in year 6 when he got his aspergers /hfa and dyspraxia diagnosis. Can i make a suggestion that you bypass school and go straight to your GP and ask for a referral?
School strung us along for years and wouldn't have it when i suggested aspergers....it was easier to call him 'clever but lazy' or 'in a dreamworld ' or 'odd'
i went armed with a list to the GP....Gp basically said 'i don't know much about what you are talking about...but you sound like you do and referred me to CAMHS.
He is 14 now and in year 10 at secondary school and doing his GCSEs. Secondary has been a breeze compared to primary. He has funding and lots of help and understanding. He is valued....and he is doing well.

Thanks for your posts. Yes cornsilllk you can PM me.

troutpout he is already with CAHMS for his button disorder and his teacher said she's going to tell them her concerns so maybe I'll get a dx that way?

Thanks for that Alison I didn't know what it meant?

And also thanks for vote of confidence MDL.
